The Oldsmobile Achieva is known for its reliability, comfort, and decent performance across various model years. Owners appreciate its solid build quality and good fuel economy, often mentioning how it feels sturdy and enjoyable to drive. Many drivers favored the sound system and safety features, highlighting these aspects as notable strengths. On the flip side, some drivers have expressed frustration over issues with brakes and minor electrical problems, which detracted from their overall experience. While the Achieva is seen as a practical choice, aesthetics and high-performance capabilities were often mentioned as areas needing improvement.

I put a total of 3,000 miles on this vehicle. I owned it 6 months and it spent 4 of those 6 months either in the shop or broken down in my driveway. It is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever owned and I was never happier when the dealership came to repossess it!
Good running clean 3.1L V6. For 1997 good sound system stock, Tends to have minor electrical issues. Runs good and clean. Not much except basic maintainence. This thing can throw you back in the seat. The best driver i have ever had.
Great car for elderly folks. Very safe and reliable. Drove like bigger sedans and is built quite heavy. Exterior styling is not the best but not the worst either. It is a very practical car with enough room for taller people. The backseat can be somewhat of a challenge to get out of but is quite comfortable for long trips. Excellent transmission and awesome acceleration for 4-cyl. Very cost efficient in the shop and at the pump.
Performance was actually ok. Had a V6 and when you tapped the gas, it didnt take off nor did it lag. The breaks werent touchy or too hard either. It looked nice, especially for its year. Quality wasnt really there at all... my windows couldnt roll down without getting stuck.. the steering wheel seemed like it was made out of foam, and my center console was cracking.
Very reliable, not much HP. Does have some get up and go when you need it, but is by no means a high performance car. It isn't that good looking but also not the worst car on the road, and the fact that it has survived Maine for more than 12 years has to say something about the craftsmanship that went into the build.
