What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Z?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights
• Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto; 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, NissanConnect Services with Wi-Fi hotspot access, navigation, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system
• Fuel efficiency: Nissan says the twin-turbo V6 requires premium gas and should return between 19 mpg and 22 mpg in combined driving. Our test car had a 20 mpg EPA fuel economy rating, and we observed 21.4 mpg on our Southern California evaluation loop.

Which Nissan Z trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan Z offers these trims:

• Sport: the entry point with the 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and two USB ports; a good-value choice if you want the core Z experience.
• Performance: adds the 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, NissanConnect Services with Wi-Fi hotspot access, navigation, an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system, a mechanical limited-slip differential, performance brakes, and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels; this is the best-value trim for many buyers.
• Heritage Edition: builds on Performance with Midnight Purple paint, bronze 19-inch Rays forged aluminum wheels, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, retro-inspired Twin Turbo graphics, special floor mats, and unique door kick plates.
• Nismo: the most track-focused version, with 420 hp and 384 lb-ft, chassis bracing, revised steering, upgraded brakes, exclusive suspension tuning, wider rear wheels, and high-performance summer tires.

What Nissan Z do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Z years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

The highest-volume years tend to be the easiest to shop because you get more inventory to compare and a better chance of finding the color, trim, and condition you want. They also usually attract the broadest buyer interest, which helps explain why they remain popular used picks.

What is the Nissan Z's resale value?

Both model years show modest price declines, which can work in your favor if you're shopping used. The movement is fairly close between the two years, so neither one is dropping dramatically faster than the other. That makes the recent-model Z market look relatively stable while still giving buyers some room to negotiate.

The 2025 and 2024 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Nissan Z safe?

• 2026: 5/10
• 2024: 6/10
• 2023: 7/10

Nissan equips the Z with forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Should I buy a used Nissan Z now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −2.18% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −2.57%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 39.8% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 39.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $42,779. The Nissan Z offers a classic rear-wheel-drive sports-car feel with strong power and a design that stands out. Consider waiting if:
• Powertrain/efficiency: One of the best things about the Nissan Z lives beneath its long, shapely hood. There, you’ll find a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine producing 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque (420 hp and 384 lb-ft in the Z Nismo). A six-speed manual gearbox or a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters delivers that power to the rear wheels.
• Tech: In all Nissan Z trims, drivers face a 12.3-inch digital display with Normal, Enhanced, and Sport modes. The Z Sport has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and two USB ports, while higher trims add a 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, NissanConnect Services with Wi-Fi hotspot access, a navigation system, and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system.
• Safety: Nissan equips the Z with forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Starting price: Pricing ranges from $44,215 to $66,995, including the $1,245 destination charge.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
