Other model years to consider
For those considering a Nissan Pathfinder, the 2020 and 2022 model years present excellent alternatives. The 2020 Pathfinder is notably cost-effective, with an average price of approximately $16,841.75 and a strong user rating of 4.5/5, making it a budget-friendly option with good reviews. Conversely, the 2022 model offers newer features at an average price of $27,441.17, maintaining high customer satisfaction with a rating of 4.7/5 and a significant portion of listings categorized as good deals.
Additionally, the 2013 model stands out for its affordability at around $7,064.92 while receiving an impressive user rating of 4.9/5. This combination makes it a highly attractive option for buyers seeking value without compromising on quality or performance in their vehicle choice.
Model years to approach with caution
The Nissan Pathfinder model years from 2005 to 2012 present several challenges in market positioning, particularly due to the high percentage of users perceiving their deals as not good or great. Despite user ratings generally hovering around the 4 out of 5 mark, many models within this range, such as the 2011 and 2012 editions, are seen as less favorable options, with significant percentages indicating a lack of value for money. Additionally, while some earlier models like the 2000 and 2002 versions enjoy higher user ratings, they may not align with current market expectations for features and reliability.
These recommendations are based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from December 17, 2025, CarGurus experts' opinions, and generative AI.

Overall, owners of the Nissan Pathfinder across all model years appreciate its reliability, spacious interior, and strong performance, particularly for family and outdoor activities. Many drivers highlight the comfortable seating, excellent sound system, and off-road capabilities, making it a versatile choice for various driving conditions. However, some common concerns include poor fuel economy, particularly in city driving, and mixed feelings about the CVT transmission's reliability. While many love the ample cargo space, some wish for more luxury features and improved third-row seating comfort. Drivers also frequently mention the powerful engine, making it enjoyable to drive, although a few have noted possible design and feature updates are due.

What people say
Highly recommend for a family it was the best purchase I ever made.
Excellent SUV for the money, great acceleration and good interior size
I love my car. Its a great car that can be used for family and work, but I recommend Nissan to rethink about two things that might need to improve: *USB ports- My hand can barely fit in the space, its really small and became VERY difficult to connect the cable to charge an iPhone. *I also notice that when the streets are flooded, when you try to pass, enough to split some water from the rain, the motor is still working but the car doesnt move. All I can tell you is that this car was perfect for me and my family, and we love this car. We recommend anyone to buy this car.
Love the overhead AC vents, captains chair in the 2nd row and the ease of access to the 3rd row. Cargo area is smaller with 3rd row up but the roof rack overs plenty of storage space and has a tow package. Its my favorite car Ive ever owned
This a low-priced car with a nice interior that drives smoother than expected for a bigger car and is very spacious!
