Expert reviews rate the 2014 and 2015 models among the highest across all years.
The main trade-offs center on cargo space, backseat room, and a cabin that can feel basic in some versions, while recent expert coverage also points to safety technology and crash-test performance as recurring concerns.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but you should pay close attention to maintenance history, accident records, and how the vehicle has been cared for over time.
What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Juke?
Across all model years, at 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2017 | 64.7% |
| 2016 | 60.1% |
| 2015 | 57.9% |
| 2014 | 57.6% |
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: standard reversing camera; Around View Monitoring with Moving Object Detection
- Infotainment: NissanConnect Bluetooth connectivity, a text-messaging assistant, and Mobile Apps on a 5-inch touchscreen display; with navigation, NissanConnect adds a 5.8-inch touchscreen and voice-control technology
- Fuel efficiency: 28 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg in combined driving
Which Nissan Juke trim should I buy?
The 2015 Nissan Juke offers...
- S: the lower-priced version in the lineup, suited to shoppers who want the Juke's distinctive styling and core driving character at a more accessible price.
- SV: a step up from the S, and a strong value choice if you want the Juke's personality with a more upscale overall feel.
- SL: the best-equipped mainstream trim, adding the most premium-feeling presentation among the non-performance versions.
- NISMO: the performance-tuned trim for buyers who want a sportier appearance and a more enthusiast-focused setup.
- NISMO RS: the top performance variant, aimed at shoppers who want the most aggressive version of the Juke.
What Nissan Juke do most buyers choose?
The Nissan Juke years with the most listings are 2014, 2015, and 2016.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 | 368 | 29.3% |
| 2015 | 304 | 29.6% |
| 2016 | 228 | 31.6% |
| 2017 | 116 | 29.3% |
Those higher-volume years usually draw the most attention because you have more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right price and condition. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so you get a clearer picture of value.
What is the Nissan Juke's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 | $7,531 | −11.12% |
| 2017 | $10,314 | −8.93% |
| 2016 | $9,408 | −6.37% |
| 2015 | $8,970 | −3.91% |
Prices are falling across every model year shown, which is good news if you're shopping used and want to maximize value. The sharpest drops are in the older and higher-priced examples, while the smaller declines in the newer years suggest those models are softening more gradually. The 2015, 2016, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Nissan Juke safe?
- 2014: 6/10
For the safest used buy, the 2014 model posts the highest confirmed score of 6/10.
Should I buy a used Nissan Juke now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2016 model is at −6.37% versus a year ago, and the 2015 model is at −3.91%.
- Deal availability: The 2016 model has 31.6% good and great deals, and the 2015 model has 29.6%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2014 model has the most listings at a current average price of $7,531. The Nissan Juke offers a bold, distinctive personality that stands out from more conventional compact crossovers.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: In all versions of the Juke except for the NISMO RS, a turbocharged, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine generates 188 hp at 5,600 rpm and 177 lb-ft of torque between 1,600 and 5,200 rpm.
- Tech: Every 2015 Juke is equipped with NissanConnect Bluetooth connectivity and a text-messaging assistant, as well as a Mobile Apps feature that provides access to popular smartphone applications right from the Juke’s 5-inch touchscreen display.
- Safety: True, it does offer a standard reversing camera and is available with an Around View Monitoring system that shows a 360-degree, top-down view of the vehicle, which is perfect for maneuvering in tight parking areas.
- Starting price: For this review, I drove a Juke SL with front-wheel drive, an optional floor and cargo mat kit, and an extra-cost center armrest, bringing the price to $26,525, including the destination charge of $825.
If you're buying used today, the 2014 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2018 inventory to mature.

The Nissan Juke is widely appreciated for its stylish design, fun driving experience, and good fuel economy across all model years. Owners love its peppy performance, especially with the turbocharged engines and all-wheel drive capability, providing a sporty feel. However, some common critiques include limited cargo and backseat space, along with a basic interior feel in certain models. Overall, the Juke stands out as a fun and visually appealing compact SUV.

Pretty decent car for the value. I have a 2014 Nissan Juke SV with the manual transmission. (Avoid the automatic version of these Nissan at all cost) It actually is decently equipped, it comes with powered windows, powered locks, a sunroof, driver's seat adjustment is electrically powered, comes with Eco and Sport mode as well as traction control and hand free Bluetooth for phone calls. The Push Button Start feature makes it very easy to just get near the car and unlock/lock it and starting it without ever having to reach for your keys. The only things I wish my Juke had was a backup camera. It being a small 1.6 4 cylinder engine means I can easily get an average of 33.3 MPG mostly on city and little highway. It being the size it is means you can very easily park almost easily, and it's short wheelbase ensures you can easily glide through the narrowrests of streets in urban tight cities. Something to keep in mind is that this car is definitely more for the City than it is a highway cruiser, so if you mainly do City driving.. this car is definitely one to keep in mind. :) I do sometimes wish you could get the fully loaded SL that included AWD, Navigation, Leather Seats without being forced to get the CVT variant. While having an Aux Input is nice.. having a Bluetooth Sound System is always better. ;) If you are in the market for a Renault Duster or a Hyundai Tucson.. consider the Juke as a nice alternative. :)

Why it stands out
The 2014 Nissan Juke stands out immediately for its unconventional styling. Its proportions and lines give it a look that is far more expressive than most small crossovers, and that distinctive design has made it a vehicle people tend to notice and react to strongly. For buyers who want something with personality rather than a conventional shape, that visual identity is a major part of the appeal.
Beyond the styling, the Juke is described as offering engaging performance at a budget price. That combination helps explain why it can attract shoppers looking for a fun, affordable vehicle rather than a purely practical one. Owners also commonly praise its responsive handling and compact size, which reinforce its sporty feel and make it easy to live with in tighter spaces.
The tradeoffs are just as clear. The Juke is hampered by poor cargo capacity and disappointing fuel economy, and owners also mention limited cargo space for families and road noise. Those drawbacks mean it is best suited to buyers who value character and driving enjoyment more than maximum utility or efficiency.
