What should I look for when buying a used Nissan GT-R?
Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 79.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2024 | 100% |
| 2023 | 100% |
| 2021 | 82.5% |
| 2020 | 83% |
| 2019 | 75.6% |
| 2018 | 72.4% |
| 2017 | 73% |
| 2016 | 73.1% |
| 2015 | 78.5% |
| 2014 | 76.6% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2014 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: The GT-R’s safety suite centers on airbags, crumple zones, traction control, vehicle-dynamics control, hill-start assist, yaw rate feedback control, and Brembo anti-lock braking.
- Infotainment: Standard NissanConnect with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Nissan Navigation System with voice guidance, and a rearview camera.
Which Nissan GT-R trim should I buy?
The 2021 Nissan GT-R offers these trims:
- GT-R Premium: This is the best-value trim, pairing the hand-assembled twin-turbo V6, all-wheel drive, dual-clutch automatic transmission, adaptive dampers, and a strong standard equipment list with the GT-R’s core performance character.
- GT-R NISMO: This is the more track-focused choice, adding 600 hp, GT3-derived turbochargers, and Recaro bucket seats for buyers who want the most extreme version in the lineup.
What Nissan GT-R do most buyers choose?
The Nissan GT-R years with the most listings are 2015, 2014, and 2016.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2015 | 65 | 29.2% |
| 2014 | 64 | 31.3% |
| 2016 | 52 | 15.4% |
| 2020 | 47 | 29.8% |
| 2019 | 45 | 28.9% |
| 2021 | 40 | 25% |
Those higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they offer a broader pool of inventory and more chances to find the right color, mileage, and price combination. They also often become the default starting point for used-car comparisons when you want both selection and market familiarity.

5 star all the way ... handling, performance, looks, comfort ... this is the ultimate vehicle ... I have driven and owned lamborghini, ferrari, AMG cars, M cars, Porsche ... this is the only vehicle that doesn't have the "ITALIAN OR GERMAN" reputation but puts all of them to shame!

I love everything about it, simply the best car for under 100k, its fast, stylish, and comfortable to drive. You cannot go wrong with this car. The only downside of this car is that the maintenance is extremely expensive, from tires, to breaks, and even fluids. So if you have the money to buy the car, be prepared to pay for what it requires.
