Customers say
The Mercury Montego has garnered praise from owners for its reliability, spacious interior, and overall comfort, making it a strong choice for those seeking a comfortable ride. Many appreciate features like all-wheel drive (AWD) and the elegant design, especially beneficial in winter conditions. However, some drivers have noted issues with acceleration and towing capacity, feeling it lacks the sporty performance they expected. Overall, it's seen as a practical option for long drives with good fuel economy.

Excellent AMERICAN car. Not sporty to drive but handles securely at all times. It's well built and reliable. I have never had any major problems with it. Not sporty to look at, but it is a roomy, comfortable sedan with excellent safety ratings. Averages around 20 MPG.

I really like the syling of my Montego. I think it is the nicest car on the road. Even better looking than any other Ford product. I like the led tailights, thats why I bought the car. I found a 2006 Montego in Denver for $5400 with 96,000 miles and bought it. I bought it after looking around locally in the Hays KS area and not finding anything approaching what I have now. I will probably be exchanging the transmission fluid around 100,000 miles. I hear it is an expensive ordeal, we will see. I do like the car mechanically, the 3 liter engine is alright, not quite as stout as a 4.6 liter v8, but a good engine none the less. The interior is great and functional, everything works and fits fine, I do wish all the plastic was something else or at least cover with a fake velvet like my parents old '89 Continental. So far I like the car.

Well so far this car is amazing. There is lots of room in side and its great on the road. I'm getting around 31 MPG This is a Premier edition and I guess I have everything including sun roof. I need to change my stock picture (show no sun roof). I had to have it service on the sway bars and mounts but the dealer corrected that. Overall its a nice quiet car.

Overview
Mercury rolled out the Montego in 2005 with a goal of adding a premium mid-size sedan that would help boost sales for the subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. The Montego is based on the Ford Five Hundred, although with a bit more flair and comfort, and it more or less replaced the Mercury Sable, which had runs its course. The sedan's design emphasizes safety, style, and handling, and Mercury did a fine job of blending those elements. Government crash-test ratings are perennially stellar. All Montegos have featured the same 3.0-liter, 203-horsepower V6, which provides sufficient power without compromising fuel efficiency. One hallmark of this car is its Command Seating feature, wherein the occupants are perched higher than in the average sedan. In addition to affording a better view and increased legroom, this increases the ease of getting into and out of the car. User satisfaction has been high in this car's short history. They appreciate its space, value, fuel economy, and pleasant ride.
