The vehicle is decent value when equipped with the V8 engine for reliability. It's a pretty cool vehicle with some great features such as the air suspension, heated front & rear seats, sunroof plus addition non-opening sunroof and glass panel for the 2nd and 3rd row seating. All seating is fold flat in to the floor so that gives a great big area for transporting or creating cargo space (safe flat areas for dogs instead of on seats) and the seating configuration is flexible. It is missing some creature comforts and the infotainment/navigation system is seriously outdated, and updating these items will cost a fair chunk of change of they are important to you. For example: this model does not come with remote start even in its highest trim level. This is a feature that is extremely important to me living in Calgary to preheat the cab in winter and precool in summer. That's a $500 - $1,000 after market upgrade. Phone connectivity, GPS Nav, music/entertainment, and vehicle health systems (tire monitoring, 4wd status, suspension status, engine/transmission/oil temps, etc) are other features that are important to me and require significant upgrades to be able to function as OEM with the existing equipment - this requires a digital dash and center dash console upgrade which costs approx. $2k to $2.5k in equipment without installation.plan another $1,300+ for installation of you aren't handy. As I would be doing the installation myself for all the above listed equipment, it would cost approx. $3k which is about half the price of purchasing a good used LR3. I'm personally ok with that as this would be a vehicle I keep around for a significant amount of time. Owners should be mindful of planning for significant maintenance costs to keep this vehicle on the road as certain systems, such as the existing air suspension, will need to be replaced eventually. If you are handy with wrenches, want a reliable engine, a cool looking and fun vehicle that floats like the 70's/80's comfy boats on the road, and are ok without the infotainment technology of today's vehicles, then this will be a blast. It also makes for a super comfy 4x4 offroader/mud crawler or a great vehicle for getting to off the beaten path camp sites if that's your jam.

The LR3 is not everyones cup of tea, you have to keep in mind you are not paying for a Honda Pilot, the LR3 requires certain amount of maintenance and is the first owner fails to keep up with that, it will trickle down to next owners! Simple regular maintenance on this vehicle will cost you thousands of dollars! Afterall it was built for the purpose of off-roading and if the vehicle is not abused it will guarantee you up to 500,000 miles on the original engine and transmission! The suspension needs periodic check up while in service for oil changes and that can save you lots of money and headache! Highly advanced suspension well suited for on-road cruising and off-road adventures, fold-flat second- and third-row seats, opulent interior, optional Luxury Package offers a center console cooler, Adaptive headlights, 550-watt 12 Speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, powerful 4.4 Liter V8 with tons of Torque. The highest capacity towing capability of 7,700 LBS. This is a very solid truck that can handle any obstacle in its way. If it cant go over the hill, it will flatten it. Great cargo room and the best family car in its class! Rugged as a Tank, Plush and Comfy like its sister model Range Rover, the Land Rover LR3 is the epitome of class in the big boys 4x4 Luxury SUV range!

full 7 seater, great looks, lots of extras available. needs chipping, great tow vehicle, make sure you get an auto. Electronic park brake is the weak point. This is the best 4x4 money can buy bar none, forget the rest. Oh and make sure you buy a diesel.

Overview
A modern update of the long outdated Discovery, the Land Rover LR3 hit the roads as a 2005 model and was the first vehicle produced since Ford bought the English off-road manufacturer. The Discovery dates back to 1989 and was the best-selling Land Rover model for many years, but its Range Rover-based platform and minimalistic features couldn't compete with the growing upscale 4X4 market.
The LR3 is completely new and boasts several firsts for Land Rover. Its innovative fully independent adjustable air suspension improves on-road performance to match the rugged off-road capabilities of its permanent all-wheel drive. The 300-hp, 4.4-liter V8 is the most powerful engine in any land rover, and the locking rear differential is also a first for this brand. The air suspension and air springs adjusts to terrain, along with the new Terrain Response System. The driver can choose from five settings (grass, sand, snow, for example) and the LR3 adjusts ride height, traction control, braking, gearing, and locking differential to help smooth out the ride and make all-wheel driving simple for any driver to use.
Available in either SE or HSE trims, the LR3 is longer than the Discovery and passengers benefit from its extra legroom. An optional third row fits adults comfortably and both rear rows fold flat in a variety of configurations to accommodate various cargo. Since its introduction, there have been few changes. A V6 engine option became available, and the third row seats became standard in the HSE trim. An elegant ride is helped out by power front seats, leather upholstery, and an optional navigation system with a map of the car. Highlights include the roomy interior, powerful off-road performance, smooth highway drive, and overall comfort, but the LR3 suffers from problems with the electrical system, air compressor, and transmission. It is also quite heavy for its V8 engine to really pick up speed.
