2003 Hummer H2 Luxury Review
by glutes33

Head Turner!

A Hummer is the perfect vehicle for folks who don't care about fuel economy and minor annoyances. I wish it had a little more power, but it's perfect for road trips (great road vehicle) and nobody gets in your way. Also, a clean, well-kept Hummer is stunning to look at. Each time I think about selling it, I get slapped back to reality. According to...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (3 reviews) "There was one employee there (we'll call him Andy) when I showed up along with one other potential buyer (Frank). Frank happened to be interested in the exact same car that I was. Could just be a coincidence? He got there before me, but Andy advised me to drive first. I insisted that Frank drive it first since he got there before me. We both finished our test drives, and we started a bidding war. I gave Andy my final offer, which he took back to Frank. Andy came to me with Frank's offer that beat mine. I took that as I lost and I started to walk away, but Andy stopped me and seemed adamant on selling to me. Didn't seem weird to me at first, I just wanted the car. I stuck with my offer, so Andy called his boss to talk it over with him. His boss accepted my offer even though it was a lot less than Franks. Why? Frank drove off and I won the car. Now came time for me to get it inspected...I was in contact the owner (Kurt) and I named a shop very close to his dealership that could inspect the car. He was adamant about not wanting to take the car to this shop. Seemed sketchy so I pushed. He eventually agreed after trying to convince me otherwise. The inspection came back with the car having winter tires, which I was aware of, 10% rear brake pads, 30% front brake pads, and original spark plugs. Not the worst inspection other than he was going to let me drive off the lot with 10% brakes. Kurt agreed to new seasonal tires, new rear brake pads and rotors, and new spark plugs. Awesome! I eventually picked my car up excited to drive it as mine for the first time. It has now been 5 days since, and 'Time for Service' is displaying on the sid. Thank god I have a 1 month warranty, but now I have to drive an hour and a half to have Kurt take two weeks to figure out the problem and fix it? Could've used a heads up on that one! Hopefully whatever's wrong with it is included in this warranty that costs $100 just to use? Awesome. Overall, I feel like I got a great deal but the whole process was sketchy and I had to constantly double-check everything to make sure I wasn't getting worked over. For instance, the box in the warranty section wasn't checked off when he had me sign the paperwork. Had to check it myself."

Avg. Dealer Rating: (7 reviews) "My worst car buying experience ever. What should take one maybe two days took four. The service department could figure how to get the tires off to check the brakes.( lockable lugs spline drive needed). Salesman promised to get new tires put on I had to go and pay for them myself. And the top off was the huge apr on the loan with the warranty I never asked for. The warranty that I paid $1600 for I asked if I wanted. When I gave Chris the $240 check for the tires, that means I paid for them. As for the safety check the side view mirror was held on by electric tape and the flashlight I found in my engine belongs to the service dept. "

Avg. Dealer Rating: (2 reviews) "They answered the 2nd time I e-mailed them. I asked them, because of the very high mileage of the vehicle, if the timing belt was changed. Their e-mail response was, " I think so". This engine REQUIRES that the belt be changed after 100,00 miles, and is an expensive item. It caused me to look elsewhere."
