| 2020 | $17,992 | $15,615 – $18,025 |
| 2019 | $16,400 | $14,939 – $16,401 |

Recently, prices have held firm or risen year-over-year across the most recent model years.

For used buyers, that combination points to a model that can be a smart long-term ownership choice when you verify condition and maintenance history carefully.
What should I look for when buying a used Honda Fit?
Across all model years, at 58.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2020 | 60.5% |
| 2019 | 60.3% |
| 2018 | 59% |
| 2017 | 55.1% |
| 2016 | 56.2% |
| 2015 | 56.9% |
| 2014 | 60.1% |
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Honda Sensing on the EX and EX-L, and available on LX and Sport with the CVT
- Infotainment: a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on every model but the LX
- Fuel efficiency: 29 mpg city, 36 highway, 31 combined; with the CVT, 33, 40, 36
Which Honda Fit trim should I buy?
The 2018 Honda Fit offers these trims:
- LX: The value-focused starting point, with power locks, power windows, air conditioning, a power moonroof, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port.
- Sport: Adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, an upgraded lower front spoiler, side underbody spoilers, a 6-speaker stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a 7-inch touchscreen.
- EX: Adds push-button start, cargo tie-downs, SiriusXM satellite radio, telescoping sun visors, and SmartLock; this is the best-value trim if you want a strong mix of features and price.
- EX-L: Adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated body-color side mirrors with an expanded driver-side view, integrated turn signals, and available navigation.
What Honda Fit do most buyers choose?
The Honda Fit years with the most listings are 2016, 2015, and 2014.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2016 | 541 | 24.8% |
| 2015 | 455 | 25.5% |
| 2014 | 388 | 22.9% |
| 2017 | 370 | 23.5% |
| 2019 | 343 | 22.4% |
| 2018 | 332 | 23.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and often sit in the sweet spot between price and features. That makes them especially appealing if you want a broad selection without moving to the newest, most expensive examples.
What is the Honda Fit's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | $17,992 | +1.08% |
| 2017 | $13,771 | +1.95% |
| 2015 | $11,363 | +3.21% |
| 2018 | $15,230 | +3.23% |
| 2019 | $16,400 | +3.3% |
| 2016 | $12,478 | +4.27% |
The table shows positive year-over-year movement across every listed model year, which means prices have been rising rather than falling. For used buyers, that can make earlier shopping more appealing if you want to lock in a lower price before values move higher. The 2016, 2019, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.
Is the Honda Fit safe?
- 2018: 8/10
- 2015: 7/10
Honda Sensing is standard on the EX and EX-L trims, and it includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-departure warning, and road-departure mitigation.
For the safest used buy, the 2018 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.
Should I buy a used Honda Fit now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Sweet-spot year: The 2016 model has the most listings at a current average price of $12,478. The Honda Fit offers a spacious cabin and clever storage that make it especially easy to live with every day.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: There's only one engine in the 2018 Honda Fit, a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder. With the 6-speed manual, that little engine makes 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. With the CVT, fuel-economy estimates jump to a claimed 33, 40, 36.
- Tech: The Sport, EX, and EX-L trims of the Fit come with a 7-inch touchscreen, and every model but the LX comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Safety: The Fit includes standard safety features such as front- and side-impact airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a reversing camera with multiple angles and guide-lines that turn with the steering wheel.
- Starting price: Base MSRP for the 2018 Honda Fit is $16,190.
If you're buying used today, the 2016 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2021 inventory to mature.

Customers say
The Honda Fit has earned a loyal following over the years, with drivers consistently praising its spacious interior, impressive cargo space, and excellent fuel economy. Many appreciate its fun driving dynamics and reliability, making it an ideal option for city driving and daily commutes. However, some owners have mentioned concerns about the engine's power, particularly when fully loaded, and a desire for improved seat comfort. While the rear visibility and some safety features could be better, the Fit remains a well-liked and practical choice for those seeking an economical compact car.

Great value, very reliable, super spacious, and still budget friendly. Can’t beat it

The car is fun to drive on twisty roads and has good space to comfortably fit five people. There’s also plenty of room to store things in the back, especially when the rear seats are folded down. Since the car was discontinued, it's missing newer models because it still holds up well. I would compare it to the Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto, and Yaris Hatchback, but I’d give the Honda Fit extra credit for its fun factor and reliability.

Why it stands out
The redesigned 2015 Honda Fit stands out for blending practicality with personality. It is still quirky and remarkably fun to drive, yet it is also better than ever in other respects. That combination gives it a grown-up feel without losing the offbeat character that helps define it.
Honda’s strength with small cars comes through clearly here: the 2015 Fit is presented as fun, affordable, and practical, and it feels more like a reward than a penalty box to own and drive. That makes it appealing to buyers who want an economical car that does not feel dull or purely utilitarian.
Owners also tend to praise the 2015 Honda Fit for its spacious interior, excellent gas mileage, and impressive cargo space. Some, however, find the handling less enjoyable and the engine noise a bit loud, so its strengths are balanced by a few everyday compromises.
