These are great now they are coming down in price. For the most part the GMT900 platform is rock solid. There are some quirky things that come with this platform, nothing major. Make sure to keep up on the maintenance and ensure all fluids are full. I’ve had 3 units Silverado, Tahoe and Yukon xl combined mileage around 500k. By far the lowest cost used vehicle to own. The only serious bad thing about these and reason for 3 stars is the body. GM didn’t use any rust preventative or e-coated panels anywhere on these. Rust forms in the rockers and wheel openings. I know I mentioned maintenance above but make sure to keep up on maintenance and oil changes by 5k miles regardless of what the oil life monitor says. Change tout the battery every couple of years, the accessories are power hungry and kill batteries.

Why it stands out
The 2020 GMC Yukon XL stands out as a full-size SUV built around space, utility, and traditional truck-based toughness. It rides on a solid rear axle and uses a higher cargo-area floor than car-based crossovers, which reflects its old-school layout and helps explain why it appeals to buyers who need serious passenger and cargo capacity rather than crossover-like packaging. The Yukon XL’s long-wheelbase design also gives it more room inside than the regular Yukon, especially for third-row passengers and luggage behind them.
For 2020, the Yukon XL SLE came standard with a 5.3L V8 engine, eight-passenger seating, an eight-inch infotainment screen, three-zone climate control, a Bose audio system, and OnStar technology. A nine-passenger seating configuration was available, and the optional Driver Alert Package added forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-change alert, and a vibrating safety alert seat. The SLT brought more comfort and convenience, including a hands-free power liftgate, power adjustable pedals, a locking rear differential, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats with power-folding functionality, and leather seating surfaces.
The Denali is the most upscale version in this generation and gives the Yukon XL a more premium personality. It came standard with the larger 6.2L V8 engine, magnetic ride control suspension, 20-inch aluminum wheels, an upgraded Bose audio system, and a chrome grille, while the Denali Touring Package added a sunroof, a head-up display, navigation, and a rear-seat entertainment system. That combination makes the 2020 Yukon XL especially appealing to shoppers who want a large SUV that can do family duty, tow and haul, and still offer a genuinely luxurious cabin. Its main drawbacks are the ones that come with the territory: poor fuel economy, handling that trails car-based crossovers, and older technology compared with newer designs.
