The biggest drops are in the newer and higher-priced years, while a few older years are changing less dramatically. One model year is moving up slightly, showing that not every version is following the same pattern.
The 2016, 2019, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used GMC Sierra 3500HD now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:

- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 30.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.6%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $73,540.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

This truck was in pristine condition, exactly what I was after in a vehicle. I passed on it because the asking price was pretty much what it was worth new in 2015. I have a hard time paying that kind of money for a 11 year old truck.

Besides the bells and whistles we grabbed this dually because we pull a toy hauler. We went from a sturdy 2500 Dodge Ram to this beauty. We choose the dually 3500 due to the pulling capacity and payload as toy haulers are heavier in front to compensate for the weight that you can put in the back. We have no issues pulling it now and the truck does not squat because the support of the 4 tires. Other friends have regular 3500 and still have issues with the payload and had to put in more money into their vehicle to beef up the suspension when pulling a toy hauler because the payload is less. YOU WONT REGRET BUYING ONE!

Why it stands out
The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious work capability with a more polished, feature-rich personality. For 2024, it received a slight styling refresh that updated the front fascia and headlights, and it also gained a larger 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument panel on the SLE trim and above. That same update brought a power bump for the turbodiesel to 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque, while trailering tech expanded with enhanced adaptive cruise control, a weight limit monitor, and a transparent trailer camera view.
Its appeal is rooted in how much it can do and how many ways it can be configured. The 2024 Sierra 3500HD was offered with a regular cab, an extended cab, or a crew cab, plus a short bed or long bed and either single- or dual-wheel rear axles. Properly equipped, it could haul as much as 7,442 pounds of cargo and tow up to 35,500 pounds. Buyers also got a wide spread of trims, from the work-focused base model to the luxury-oriented Denali Ultimate, which added features such as adaptive cruise control, cooled and massaging front seats, a digital rearview mirror, and a sunroof.
At the same time, the Sierra 3500HD remains a truck with the compromises expected of the segment. It is unwieldy in parking lots, and top trims can be prohibitively expensive. Heavy-duty trucks are also exempt from fuel-economy estimates and standardized crash testing, so there are no official numbers to lean on there. Even so, for shoppers who want maximum towing and hauling ability along with increasingly upscale equipment, the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a compelling choice.
