Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Our AT4X’s EPA-rated 17 mpg combined is the same as a full-size GMC Sierra with 4WD and a V8 engine, and we observed 16.4 mpg on our mountainous Southern California test loop during light rain.
• Infotainment: GMC equips the Canyon with a standard 11-inch digital driver display and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in technology.
• Safety package: Every 2026 Canyon includes a Pro Safety Package and a Safety Plus Package which, together, include: forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors (with trailer coverage), rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, rear parking sensors, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Which GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2026 GMC Canyon offers these trims:

• Elevation: The entry trim uses rear-wheel drive, and it’s the starting point if you want the Canyon’s turbocharged powertrain and standard off-road suspension at the lowest price.
• AT4: This is the best-value trim if you want a more adventure-ready setup, with standard four-wheel drive on non-base versions and a stronger off-road focus.
• Denali: This trim adds a more luxurious cabin presentation and richer materials for buyers who want the Canyon’s premium side.
• AT4X: This is the most off-road-focused version, with Multimatic DSSV dampers, 10.7 inches of ground clearance, mud-terrain tires, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and hill descent control.

What GMC Canyon do most buyers choose?

The GMC Canyon years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you the broadest selection of listings and a strong mix of pricing and deal availability. That makes it easier to compare trims, mileage, and condition before you buy.

What is the GMC Canyon's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which creates better buying opportunities for used shoppers. The declines are especially noticeable on newer models, while a few older years show smaller moves that suggest steadier pricing.

The 2017 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2017, 2016, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
