Customer summary
The Ford Excursion has been well-received by owners across all model years for its spacious interior, strong towing capability, and overall reliability. Many appreciate the powerful performance, making it a great choice for families needing extra room and those who tow heavy loads. However, a common criticism is the poor fuel economy, as owners frequently mention high gas consumption. Additionally, handling due to its large size and certain durability concerns with interior components have been noted as drawbacks.

The vehicle is missing a transmission cover, rope utilized to stop the starter from shaking, and had cut and unsecured wire underneath and in engine compartment from DIY installations. Has certain spots of heavy rust that need attention or should be disclosed.

Nothing compares to the excursion the biggest vehicle on the planet! Not a lot of things were missing a few minor things like format got overhead console trip computer and destination to empty were OK and working order but of course one of the sunglasses holder was messed up but it's to be expected on a vehicle that is over 20 years old

This 2005 vehicle almost looks new with a perfect finish. It has spent years in the south with no salt exposure. The interior leather seats have been well-maintained with no wear. The Diesel engine was smooth running and the air suspension system provides a great ride given the age and weight of the SUV. The price seemed reasonable as we are familiar with the diesel model, having had a 2000 one. There was no hesitation in deciding to purchase it on the spot. It seemed a better choice over other large SUV’s we’ve tried such as the diesel Tourag, BMW and Suburban.

Overview
The Ford Excursion was a great example of the 'bigger is better' mentality that dominated the US auto industry during the SUV era. Ford responded to strong sales from the GMC Yukon XL and the Chevy Suburban by beating them at their own game with the mega-sized Excursion.
The Excursion was based on the Super Duty truck platform, and classified as a heavy-duty commercial vehicle. Weighing in at three and a half tons, the Excursion was, when it was launched, one of the largest vehicles ever marketed widely for passenger use.
Not surprisingly, the Excursion's gas mileage was pretty dismal. Still, the Excursion did find a following among people who needed (or just wanted) to drive a sport-utility vehicle the size of a small European nation.
The Excursion was axed in 2005, a victim of rising gas prices. It's still a favorite with tuners and project enthusiasts, though; there's a lot of Detroit steel to work with, and it's fun if you're not planning to drive very far.
