Purchased this vehicle new in March 1999. This was our first foray into the minivan market. We were not disappointed! Gas mileage was good, overall performance was good. We sold in in 2006 with just over 75,000 km on it to our friends. They are still driving it and loving it! The only cost it gave us was regular maintenance, tires and a repair to the head gasket which I understand is a problem for all the 6 cyl. 3.4 litre engines that chev used in these vans, the Montana and the Lumina cars. This cost us approximately $1500 to repair but overall this was cheap considering the years of service it gave us.

A Muscle car that you can take 6 extra people in - This Van is really pretty good. we've had it for a 7 months. fit and finish isn't like a Lexus, but it's not a Lexus. We decided to go for the van because a similar age sedan would have cost us twice as much to buy and would seat fewer passengers and wouldn't be that much lighter on gas. No major problems yet. the only thing we have noticed is that on a hot day, with AC on, going uphill, after a while of driving, the Temp tends to rise a little too high for comfort, but we kept it out of the danger zone by turning on the heat and rolling down the windows. We got one without all the fancy stuff (that usually breaks in the first few years). When you push the gas, it gives a fun Growl like a 60's muscle car, and moves surprisingly quickly. sometimes I forget that I'm driving a minivan. it has classic unoffensive styling. if you like Chevy's and need a van, this is not a bad option. Update: I have now owned it for almost two years. we have camped in it, towed a boat with it, and used it as a daily driver. we just did our first major maintenance/repairs on it. It needed new rear hubs which they said was somewhat rare. they also replaced the tie rod on one side and fixed the alignment. The front brakes pads were replaced/ rotors resurfaced and we threw in a coolant flush because the coolant looked dirty (something that I'd noticed when we got it, and thought about getting done a long time ago)the total came to about $800. considering this is the first time we have had to do anything for it, (and the good deal we got on it) I figure it's not bad.

I've been driving my 97 Venture for 3yrs. now. I love this ride. My children love it. We've traveled to nine different states and never had a problem. We love it!

This has been a good family car, we have taken it to PA and southern MO. I was able to count on it to commute to college also. The gas mileage seems appropriate for the vehicle. The interior is satisfactory and there is space for a large cooler. We packed this van for several camping trips.

The Chevrolet Venture was introduced in 1997 as a replacement for the unlamented Chevy Lumina minivan. Its steeply raked design wasn't to everyone's taste, but drivers praised its roomy interior, comfortable seating, and ease of access to the passenger cabin, thanks to its innovative dual sliding doors.
Two bodystyles were offered: a standard 112-inch wheelbase and an extended-wheelbase version that stretched to 120 inches. Various trims were offered through the years, ranging from no-frills basic models to high-end packages with luxury touches and media centers.
Although the Chevy Venture was targeted at drivers looking for comfortable family transportation, a combination of the SUV revolution and the uninteresting design of the van itself meant that it never quite caught on. Nor were its other GM incarnations (the Oldsmobile Silhouette and the Pontiac Trans Sport, later the Pontiac Montana) more successful. The Chevrolet Venture was discontinued in 2005 and replaced by the Uplander.
