What Chevrolet Express do most buyers choose?
The Chevrolet Express years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 534 | 36.5% |
| 2025 | 466 | 38% |
| 2026 | 338 | 38.2% |
| 2018 | 336 | 33.3% |
| 2016 | 300 | 32.3% |
| 2017 | 299 | 34.1% |
The highest-volume years tend to draw the most attention because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right price and configuration. They also tend to be the easiest places to start when you want a broad selection of listings.
What is the Chevrolet Express's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | $37,386 | −19.79% |
| 2023 | $30,574 | −16.22% |
| 2014 | $17,975 | −14.58% |
| 2019 | $21,677 | −10.78% |
| 2020 | $22,279 | −10.34% |
| 2015 | $16,435 | −9.29% |
| 2017 | $20,423 | −7.78% |
| 2016 | $20,592 | −6.54% |
| 2018 | $21,776 | −4.13% |
Most model years are down year over year, and several recent ones show especially sharp drops. That pattern can work in your favor if you're shopping used, since it opens up more room for value on recent model years. A few older years have smaller declines, which suggests they have moved less over the past year.
The 2018, 2016, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used Chevrolet Express now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2024 model is at −19.79% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −16.22%.
- Deal availability: The 2024 model has 36.5% good and great deals.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $37,386.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

This has been a great van for our extra large family of 9+. We have enjoyed using it for family vacations, trips with friends, and loading up the van with church groups for special trips. The seats go in and out easily, which makes it great for taking a seat or two out of the back to carry luggage or equipment and a good group of people at the same time. Or taking all the seats out for more room than you can get out of a pick-up truck. Only reason we are selling is because it is not practical for us any more being as most our kids are grown and we don't need that much room any longer.

Overview
The Chevrolet Van has existed in some form since the 1961 "Van," which was built on a Corvair platform. After decades of relatively unchanged incarnations, ending with the 1995 Sportvan, in 1996 the Van got a major overhaul and a new name -- the Chevrolet Express.
Capable of being outfitted as a cargo van for work purposes, or a passenger van for fleet and shuttle services, the new Chevrolet Express came in three categories, based on weight. These were the Express 1500, 2500, and 3500. The new version for 1996 added more inches to both the regular and extended wheelbases (135 and 155 inches, respectively). The extended wheelbase was offered only on the 2500 and 3500 models. The new Express also featured wider-swinging rear doors that opened 180 degrees, for easier loading and unloading.
The Chevrolet Express is closely related to the GMC Savana, and both compete with the market-leading Ford Econoline. The passenger van can hold up to 15 people in the extended version, and an optional driver-side 60/40 split door can be added alongside the one on the passenger side. The first Express vans came with a variety of V6 and V8 engines, dual front airbags, and ABS brakes. A 2003 redesign added an AWD option on the 1500 and a more rigid frame.
Current models come in a basic LS trim and a more comfort and convenience-oriented LT trim that offers power features and rear climate control. In 2007, the 2500 model was dropped along with the V6 engines, leaving only three V8 engines to choose from, including a flexible fuel version of a new 5.3-liter, 295-hp V8.
The Chevrolet Express has a bit sleeker, more updated look than the Econoline (as sleek as a large passenger van can get) and the power upgrade, AWD option and standard ABS are all big selling points. In 2007, the NHTSA gave the Express a five-star frontal impact rating. Gas mileage is poor and interior styling won't be featured on Martha Stewart, but with few van options out there, both the Express and its sister Savana have captured nearly 50% of the market segment.
