Overview
About the BMW X6 M
The X6 M is the high performance model of the BMW X6 lineup, adding a more powerful engine and other upgrades to the standard X6. It’s also the bigger sibling to the BMW X4 M in the automaker’s M performance lineup.
What are the advantages of the BMW X6 M?
- Fun to drive
- Standard all-wheel drive
- Powerful engine
What is the best BMW X6 M model year?
The X6 M was introduced for the 2011 model year, with second- and third-generation versions arriving for model years 2015 and 2020 respectively. The current third-generation model gets an update for 2024, with refreshed styling and a new infotainment system. BMW is also dropping the base model, selling only the higher-output X6 M Competition from here on out.
What are the disadvantages of the BMW X6 M?
- Advanced safety features are not standard
- Not much cargo space
Comparison: Is the BMW X6 M better than the BMW X6?
The X6 M has a completely different character from the standard X6. Where the standard X6 is a pleasant daily driver, the X6 M is built for maximum-attack driving. That emphasis on performance comes with a much higher base price. So if you’re just looking for something to drive to work and on road trips, the standard X6 is more than adequate.
Is the BMW X6 M a reliable car?
J.D. Power doesn’t break out scores for the X6 M, but overall the X6 was the top-rated “upper midsize premium SUV” in the organization’s 2023 customer satisfaction survey.
