The Audi Allroad is highly regarded for its impressive performance, rugged build, and comfort across all model years. Owners appreciate its spacious interior and all-wheel drive capabilities, making it great for families and long trips. However, many have concerns about high maintenance costs and the reliability of certain components, such as the air suspension. The 2003 Audi Allroad Quattro is a bit of a cult classic among enthusiasts because it combined Audi’s refined luxury with genuine off-road ability.

Great Car if you have patience and an extra $4K-5K to sort it all out. The air suspension, cam seal leaks, secondary air pump, & control arm issues always need updating. That said, it is SOLID, drives GREAT, seems somewhat overbuilt & has a very robust chassis, classic style still looks fresh today. Wonderful road car and the 2.7 has plenty of get up and go. Cruises all day at 80 mph with ease.Worth putting money into if you find the right one. CHANGE TIMING BELT or your asking for trouble.

Very quiet, comfortable, and spacious. It has been a great family car, especially when we packed it up with both kids, 2 dogs, and all of our luggage for a two week vacation. The only thing to accomplish that was adding a cargo topper which locks on in a few minutes. The maintenance costs!!! WHEN the turbos dies, expect 15 hours of labor on top of the cost associated with two turbos. The clutch replacement was around 10-12 hours of labor along with the $1000 for parts. The air suspension is another costly area at a few hundred per airbag, plus 4 hours of labor. The engineers had a great time designing this car, but had little regard for maintenance after the fact. Things can add up very quickly.

Great car, Pick Up, SUV, Family Truckster. This car pretty much does it all. For a 2.7 liter V6, the car has get up and go. There is some Turbo lag, but it's manageable. This car has no blind spots, it's like driving in a greenhouse. Luxurious interior. Beware, this is a systems heavy car, and if it has been abused, you could have issues with the suspension and turbo's. Very easy to make lot's of HP with. Flash the ECM with the Euro program, and the car goes from 250 HP to 315 HP! It's great to see the look on the Mustang GT pilots faces, when they get smoked by a Station Wagon...Oops, I mean an Avant. This is not your father's Station Wagon. Mileage could be better, but it's a small engine in a good sized car.

Overview
Based on an A6 Avant, the Audi allroad quattro made its debut in 2001 as a crossover vehicle that sat somewhere between streamlined station wagon and bulky SUV. Having no SUV offering anyway, the allroad quattro claimed to have more heft and performance capabilities than the Avant quattro.
The allroad quattro's biggest selling point was its variable air suspension that featured four settings the driver could select by hitting a button. These settings offered different ride heights depending on the traveling conditions. A lower and softer suspension suited normal highway driving, while a stiffer and higher one was meant for rugged roads or offroading options. Owners loved this feature, because combined with the all-wheel drive, they felt they could tackle anything.
As with all Audi cars, the allroad quattro was sturdy and solid, with strong safety features. Being more car-like, it handled better than an SUV, and though storage capacity was somewhat reduced, the interior cabin was roomy and spacious, with lots of leg and headroom for comfortable family trips. The luxury interior, plus many options packages made the allroad quattro not your ordinary wagon. Heated leather seats, dual climate control, power-adjustable seats and memory settings, and a solar sunroof are just a few standard Audi offerings.
There are many possible reasons why the allroad quattro never sold well in the U.S. Perhaps it was poor marketing, perhaps it was the lousy fuel economy and hefty premium gas consumption. Or perhaps it was the way the use of lower case letters in its name hinted at a lack of confidence and boldness. Whatever the reason, allroad owners seem to love the way their car handles, with high marks going to the AWD and variable suspension systems. Whatever the reason, the allroad is being redesigned with a diesel engine offering and should hit the US sometime in 2007.
