For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully on older examples, especially if you want a sedan that has already seen substantial use.

What should I look for when buying a used Audi A8?

Across all model years, at 72.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2019 models.

What Audi A8 do most buyers choose?

The Audi A8 years with the most listings are 2020, 2022, and 2018.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choices on trim, mileage, and pricing, which can make it easier to find a well-matched used A8. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so inventory stays more visible.

What is the Audi A8's resale value?

Prices are moving lower across every year shown, and several model years have posted double-digit declines. That creates a favorable setup if you’re shopping used, since recent price drops can improve your buying power. The smaller declines in the remaining years suggest some trims and model years have softened less sharply than others.

The 2014, 2019, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Audi A8 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2021 model is at −15.87% versus a year ago, and the 2019 model is at −9.29%.
• Deal availability: The 2019 model has 34.7% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2020 model has the most listings.

If you're buying used today, the 2020 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
