Used Acura RL for Sale near Galveston, TX
Acura RL Overview
The Acura RL was first produced in 1996 to replace the Legend. Although the "RL" officially stands for "Road Luxury," many surmised that it actually stood for "Replace Legend."
The Acura RL has maintained its 3.5-liter V6 engine despite demands from drivers for more cylinders. Horsepower started at 210, and torque at 224 lb-ft. Horsepower for the 2007 RL is listed as 290 and the accompanying torque at 256 lb-ft.
The luxury sedan takes premium fuel, and mileage has hovered around 18 miles per gallon in the city, and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. Drivers have complained about the fuel inefficiency, even though the Acura RL qualified as a low emissions car.
The RL line has struggled in the crowded luxury sedan market. The recent technological improvements made during the 2005 redesign may help, but Acura may need to bump the engine up to a fuel-efficient V8 before the critics are quieted.

The Acura RL has established a reputation among drivers for its blend of luxury, reliability, and performance across the years. Many owners rave about the car's smooth ride, impressive technology features, and all-wheel drive capability, which makes it ideal for various weather conditions. However, some drivers have noted concerns regarding gas mileage, interior quality in earlier models, and the comparison to sportier luxury brands. Overall, the RL is favored for its comfort and solid performance, but some wish for more practical features and better fuel economy.

What people say
I'm going to go by list of the recommended: Performance: It's adequate as Rolls Royce would say. Acceleration Braking etc. is par for the course Build Quality: Outstanding, nothing else to be said Appearance: While subjective, this car is definitely a GREAT looking car when modified. Aggressive and elegant at the same time. A timeless design Cost of Ownership: Well it's been pretty trouble free so far, we'll see. gas mileage is okay for a large car, but keep you pocket stacked because it's definitely not a Diesel in the MPG department. Fun Factor: well, all things considered, this car is a BLAST to drive. in model year 2002-2004, the suspension and chassis was stiffened to take advantage of the car's original Sporting nature. It handles EXTREMELY well for a car its size and even for a car smaller. VERY well planted and begs to be driven. However, it will let you know you've gone too far by stepping the rear out on you.
I love my 1997 Acura 3.5RL Premium. It's my baby. It's got a 3.5 liter V6 with 210 horsepower and 224 lb-ft torque. It does 0-60 in 7.8 seconds as tested by Motorweek. The color is called Cayman White Pearl and the interior color is Quartz, a grayish color. It was bought 12 years ago by my grandmother at Acura of Mission Viejo, California. I was about 5 years old then and believe it or not, I went with her to go buy it and I even remember it. The sticker price was around $45,000 when brand new. It has the premium package with 6 CD player, Bose sound sytem, traction control, extra wood trim, heated front seats and a GPS navigation system. I bought the car from her when I turned 16 just before I got my license. Performance is great. Tight steering, good breakes, quick acceleration etc. The quality is decent, but I have had some problems with it. The GPS broke and I got that fixed under a recall. I had to pay $300 for a new window regulator for one of my windows. The ABS had a leak of some sort 5 months after I bought the car. Well over $2000 to fix. 10 months after I bought it, I had to take the car in because of a serious brake problem. After they got fixed, I had to take it to the repair shop a week later because of a 2nd break problem. Right now no problems, but I think I may need to check the ignition because sometimes I have to turn the key twice to start it. The car will start if it doesn't start the first time. The car's running great. The car impresses a lot of people. I always get good compliments on my car. The exterior styling is very appealing, but the rims could have been designed to be a little bit nicer. The interior is also very stylish, for its age anyway. Mayny people love my car for its looks. Cost of ownership is reasonable, except for the brake problems that I've had. The EPA tested the Acura's 3.5 V6 at 19 city 25 highway. I think that's inaccurate, but I get decent gas mileage. Maybe around 225-250 miles on a full tank. During the summer however, when gas was almost $5 a gallon, I remember paying over $60 for a full tank of gas, and my car requires premium gasoline. Right now I pay about $35 for a full tank. This car is so much fun to drive. In 1996 Acura RL ad, they say "It proves that luxury doesn't have to be boring", and they were right. I do have to give it lots of credit for the handling. That's one thing I love about it the most. Even though this car doesn't have a V8 or rear wheel drive like its Lexus LS400 and and Infiniti Q45 rivals, it's still a great car and I really would recommend this car to anyone.
Technology is nice. Ride is balanced and stable. Sound System is top notch. Performance is decent.
I liked just about everything about this vehicle. My kids liked it and I liked driving it. The seats were very comfortable for long rides. Dual memory is great for my shorter GF for when she drives the car. She liked the RL over her 2008 Honda Accord EXL!
I love this car because it is the complete package. It is fast, it handles extremely well on turns (with the headlights that move with the steering wheel!), it is great in snow, the paddle shifters are a lot of fun, the v-tec engine really comes to life on the upper end of the RPM's, the voice activated NAV is amazing, the Blue Tooth is great, and it is very reliable. I bought the car certified pre-owned from an Acura dealer in NJ for $21,500 in Dec of 2009 with only 40k miles. This car suits me for all these reasons and also because in my business, if I drive up in a BMW or Benz, my clients will worry that I am charging them too much, so that is great - and I can drive up to a country club valet and not feel too humbled either.
