Customers say
The AMC Eagle offers a unique blend of off-road capability and nostalgic charm that owners truly appreciate. Many drivers enjoy its reliable four-wheel drive system, especially in challenging weather, enabling them to navigate snow and rough terrains effectively. Reviewers have highlighted its practicality with ample cargo space, although some have noted its limited power and acceleration. Common issues like rust and the need for maintenance over time have also been pointed out, but overall, the Eagle is favored for its performance in adverse conditions and its distinctive design.

It is the first cross over, first car to have full time 4x4, it is 25 years old so obviously it is built solid, got a 4.2 straight six with great torque. Car almost saved AMC from chryslers death grip.

the 4 wheel drive got it anywhere no matter the weather. power wasnt bad and the heater worked decently. the engine ALWAYS started, even in -30 and no block heater. it wasnt a sports car by any stretch of the imagination and the suspension reminds you on every turn, but there is something cool about pulling Jeeps out of snowbanks with a compact station wagon

For it's time, the AMC Eagle was ahead of its time. The 4WD drive train will get you home in any weather. It's design was of the 80's era, with comfortable seats. However the optional vinyl top caused moisture buildup and caused rust on the roofs of many cars, including mine.

The Eagle is a fairly simple reliable car, the four wheel drive makes it easy to get to places ordinary cars won't go without the sacrifices one makes for a true off-roader. The vacuum system is )perhaps unnecessarily) complex, but rarely needs attention. The Carter carburetor has some known issues, but anyone with a bit of aptitude can fix those.
