New & Used 2027 Kia Seltos for Sale nearDes Moines, IA

Is the 2027 Kia Seltos a good car?

The 2027 Kia Seltos earns an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

It backs up that score with a redesigned small-SUV package that emphasizes style, a roomy interior, and a cargo area that makes it feel more practical than its footprint suggests. It also brings advanced infotainment and safety tech, which helps it feel more modern than many rivals in the segment.

The trade-offs are clear: the standard engine is sluggish, the ride can feel soft and springy at times, and it lacks standard blind-spot warning. Even so, if you want a small SUV that leans into space, features, and design, this one makes a strong case for itself.

With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2027 Kia Seltos reliable?

The 2027 Kia Seltos is presented as a brand-new model with a strong emphasis on substance behind its redesign, and its overview points to a practical cabin, modern tech, and a well-rounded ownership proposition. The expert evaluation also describes it as a vehicle with deep substance beneath its bold surface, which supports the idea that it is built to be more than just a style exercise.

On the dependability side, the performance notes say the standard 2.0-liter engine is adequate for typical small-SUV use, even if it feels slow in harder driving situations. That suggests the core powertrain is serviceable for everyday commuting rather than especially energetic.

Kia’s warranty coverage and roadside assistance add another layer of reassurance for long-term ownership, and the complimentary Kia Connect Ultimate subscription on the test vehicle adds value up front. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the standard powertrain may feel underwhelming if you regularly drive in traffic, on hills, or on fast highways.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Kia Seltos?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, how the cabin electronics operate, and whether the vehicle has the features you want, since trim content changes the ownership experience quite a bit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX trim lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so you should pay close attention to feature differences if safety convenience matters to you. The S trim is the recommended step up because it adds a safer-exit warning system.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a CVT, while the X-Line SX gets a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic. The standard engine is described as slow when merging, passing, or climbing hills.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking with intersection turning assist, front and rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Prestige Package on the X-Line SX adds Highway Driving Assist, a camera-based blind-spot monitor, a surround-view camera system, additional side parking sensors, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The standard infotainment touchscreen is 12.3 inches, and the system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia Connect connected services. The panoramic display setup with the digital instrument panel and climate panel is not standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The X-Line SX is rated at 26 mpg in combined city and highway driving.

Which 2027 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2027 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, X-Line S, and X-Line SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it misses blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so it is the least compelling choice if you care about safety convenience.
• S: This is the best-value trim because it adds the safer-exit warning system and addresses one of the base model’s biggest omissions without pushing you too far up the price ladder.
• EX: This trim makes sense if you want a more comfortable and better-equipped daily driver, while still staying with the standard 2.0-liter powertrain.
• X-Line S: Choose this if you want standard all-wheel drive and a more rugged-looking setup without jumping all the way to the turbocharged model.
• X-Line SX: This is the most powerful and most feature-rich version, with the turbocharged engine and the available Prestige Package adding the most advanced tech and driver-assistance gear.

The safety-package note is simple: the base LX lacks blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so the S trim is the smarter starting point for most used buyers.

Is the 2027 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2027 Kia Seltos has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite is broad and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking with intersection turning assist, front and rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control. Kia’s Highway Driving Assist is available with the Prestige Package on the X-Line SX, and that package also adds a camera-based blind-spot monitor, a surround-view camera system, additional side parking sensors, and rear automatic braking.

One important caveat is that the base LX trim does not get blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert, which is why the S trim is the recommended upgrade if safety convenience matters to you.

Should I buy a 2027 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesigned model brings a roomier cabin, stronger tech, and a more substantial overall package than before.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern Seltos, the 2027 is the one to target because it delivers the redesign, the upgraded tech, and the strongest overall presentation. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to shop carefully and focus on the trims that give you the safety and convenience features you actually need rather than paying for the top-end versions.
