New & Used 2026 Volvo XC60 for Sale nearThe Dalles, OR

Is the 2026 Volvo XC60 a good car?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 earns a 6.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It remains appealing because Volvo pairs subtle styling updates with a more modern cabin experience, including the new Volvo Car UX infotainment system, an 11.2-inch touchscreen, and Google Gemini integration. The XC60 also stands out for its stylish design, premium interior materials, and comfortable seats, which help it feel upscale even as the design ages.

The trade-offs are real: the XC60 is described as sluggish, its fuel economy is poor, and its driver-assistance tech is unimpressive. It still makes sense if you want a comfortable, luxurious compact crossover with a polished cabin and current-feeling tech, but it is less convincing if you prioritize performance or advanced driver aids.

Good and great deals account for 32.7% of listings, which suggests a moderate shopping environment.

Is the 2026 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 is presented as a familiar, well-established compact luxury SUV with a mild-hybrid powertrain, regenerative braking, and two complimentary services with a lease or purchase. Volvo also includes a free four-year connected-services plan, which helps ownership feel a bit more supported early on.

The powertrain is described as modest rather than strained, and the SUV is framed as a comfortable road-trip companion that suits the expected Volvo customer. That said, the same data also points to uneven power delivery and fuel economy that falls short of expectations, which can affect day-to-day satisfaction.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability concerns in the provided data and more about whether you can live with the XC60’s performance and efficiency compromises over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Volvo XC60?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the vehicle’s condition matches the listing photos and equipment claims. A pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile if you’re considering a higher-spec example with larger wheels, air suspension, or premium audio, since those features can change both ride quality and ownership costs. Focus on cabin condition, wheel damage, and whether the tech and driver-assistance systems behave as expected on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC60 is sold as the T5 mild hybrid and the T8 Plug-in Hybrid, and the review covers the T5 in Core, Plus, Ultra, and Black Edition trim levels. The base setup is the least lavish, while the Ultra brings the most upscale cabin presentation and available equipment; the review also notes that some of the most expensive add-ons, like 22-inch wheels, air suspension, and Bowers & Wilkins audio, are not necessarily worth the extra cost.
• Powertrain: The T5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, plus a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, an eight-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive. The review says the claimed 26 mpg combined rating is optimistic, with real-world results of 24.7 mpg on one loop and 21.7 mpg on another.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, and standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning that can detect large animals, oncoming collision mitigation braking, and intersection braking assist. The review also notes that the system lacks a touch-sensing steering wheel, and there is no hands-free highway driving system or low-speed traffic jam assist system.
• Infotainment: The XC60 gets a new 11.2-inch touchscreen with Volvo Car UX, Google built-in, Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Gemini, and Google Play. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, but Apple CarPlay requires a wired connection.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA rating is 26 mpg combined, while the review’s testing returned 24.7 mpg on one route and 21.7 mpg on another.

Which 2026 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 is offered in 4 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultra, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the XC60’s style, comfort, and new infotainment without stretching for extras. It gives you the basic Volvo experience, but it is the least compelling choice if you want the richest cabin or the most upscale features.
• Plus: This is the trim to consider if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It should give you more of the XC60’s premium feel without pushing you into the highest-priced versions, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Ultra: This is the one to buy if you want the XC60 at its most luxurious. The review highlights the beautifully detailed cabin, Nappa leather, premium wood trim, metal speaker grilles, and available high-end audio, though it also suggests skipping the priciest extras if you want better value.
• Black Edition: Choose this if you want the XC60’s upscale character with a darker, more distinctive appearance. It is best for shoppers who care about style and presence as much as comfort.

The safety package is strong on standard equipment, but the driver-assistance tech itself is less impressive than the rest of the SUV.

Is the 2026 Volvo XC60 safe?

The 2026 Volvo XC60 did not earn a Top Safety Pick or a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It earns a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and five-star ratings in each individual crash test except for rollover resistance.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The XC60 includes forward-collision warning that can identify large animals, pedestrians, and cyclists, plus oncoming collision mitigation braking and intersection braking assist. Pilot Assist is standard and combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, but the review says it is unsophisticated and can struggle with lane tracking, traffic flow, and driver monitoring expectations.

The main caveat is that the XC60’s safety tech does not live up to Volvo’s reputation, and the IIHS result falls short of the segment’s best performers.

Should I buy a 2026 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Volvo’s new Car UX infotainment system, 11.2-inch touchscreen, and Google Gemini integration make this year feel more current than the aging design might suggest.

The bottom line: If you want the newest tech and a comfortable, upscale cabin, the 2026 XC60 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may deliver a similar overall experience for less money, especially if you can live without the latest infotainment updates.
