Is the 2026 Toyota Camry a good car?

Yes — you get a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for practical shoppers. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Camry is built around affordability, efficiency, and safety, and it stays focused on doing the basics well rather than chasing flash. It is comfortable and good to drive, and the technology is easy to use.

The trade-offs are that the styling is uninspired and the cargo space is limited. The stereo is also lacking, so if you want a more exciting cabin or extra utility, you may want to look elsewhere.

You’ll find 39.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Toyota Camry reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Camry is described as cheap to own and dependable, and its hybrid-only setup is presented as a straightforward, proven approach. Toyota also emphasizes practical ownership with a complimentary maintenance package that lasts twice as long as the Accord’s.

Its hybrid powertrain is framed as tried-and-true, and the car’s overall mission is to deliver simple, frugal transportation without drama. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about finding one that has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota Camry?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and cabin condition before you commit. Focus on whether the trim and equipment match your needs, since the Camry’s value depends heavily on how well it was optioned.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, SE, Nightshade Edition, XLE, and XSE each bring different styling and equipment, and the base setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with an adequate six-speaker audio system.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a hybrid system with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and electric motors, with front-wheel-drive models making 225 horsepower and all-wheel-drive versions making 232 hp.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, road-sign assist, and high-beam assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit warning are also standard.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12.3-inch screen is available on upgraded equipment.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 43 mpg to 51 mpg in combined city and highway driving, depending on trim and drivetrain.

Which 2026 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota Camry is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, SE, Nightshade Edition, XLE, and XSE.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the most affordable path into the Camry, and it gives you the standard hybrid powertrain, the 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. It makes the most sense if you want the Camry’s core strengths without paying for extras.
• SE: This trim adds a sport-tuned suspension, so it’s the better pick if you want a slightly sharper feel without moving too far up the price ladder. It keeps the Camry’s practical mission intact while adding a bit more road presence.
• Nightshade Edition: This is the style-forward choice, with satin black 19-inch wheels, gloss-black exterior detailing, and a black interior with SofTex upholstery. It’s the best-value trim if you want the most distinctive look without stepping into the upper luxury-oriented trims.
• XLE: This trim is the more comfort-focused upgrade, and it also gets the touch-sensing steering wheel mentioned in the safety discussion. It suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• XSE: This is the top trim in the lineup and pairs the sport-tuned suspension with the most premium-feeling equipment in the range. It’s the right choice if you want the fullest Camry experience.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim for the core safety suite.

What is the 2026 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $32,229 sits slightly below last year's $33,896.

That softer pricing can work in your favor if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices keep easing. The Camry’s practical reputation, efficiency, and safety should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a low-risk sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The 2026 Toyota Camry earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and five-star scores in every individual assessment. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety names it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, road-sign assist, and high-beam assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit warning are also standard.

Predictive Driving Assist is part of the package as well, and Toyota notes that it can help monitor following distances and avoid obstacles. One caveat is that the lane-centering and adaptive cruise systems can feel a little overactive in some driving situations.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a sporty Nightshade Edition trim and a new Dark Cosmos paint color.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,242, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $32,229 average.
• It launches the new hybrid-only generation with fresh styling and updated features.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with a broader market selection and the latest trim additions, the 2026 makes sense. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2025 is the better value play and still gives you the Camry’s core strengths.
