New & Used 2026 Subaru Outback for Sale nearKennewick, WA

Is the 2026 Subaru Outback a good car?

The 2026 Subaru Outback earns an expert rating of 7.17/10. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

It’s built for you if you want one vehicle that can handle daily commuting, cargo duty, and rougher terrain without giving up on-road comfort. The redesign leans into an SUV-like shape while keeping the wagon advantages that make the Outback practical, and the expert summary says it has no notable flaws in price, performance, and practicality.

Trade-offs: higher trim levels have diminishing returns, and the tech score trails the rest of the lineup. Even so, the market signal is still healthy, with 34.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Subaru Outback reliable?

The 2026 Subaru Outback is presented as a well-rounded, confidence-inspiring choice, with the overview emphasizing its broad usefulness and the expert summary highlighting strong practicality and no notable flaws in price, performance, or practicality. Its performance notes also point to a composed, confident driving experience, with the base engine feeling more capable than expected and the cabin staying relatively quiet in most situations.

Subaru’s safety and driver-assistance content also supports the case for long-term peace of mind, with standard EyeSight features designed to reduce everyday driving stress. If you’re buying used, the main ownership risk is less about a glaring mechanical weakness and more about choosing the right trim so you don’t overpay for features you may not need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Subaru Outback?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you plan to use the Outback on rough roads or in bad weather. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Premium trim already brings attractive interior materials, a modern cabin layout, and strong everyday usability, while higher trims add smoother materials and a more upscale feel. The Touring trim stands out for its richer cabin presentation and added convenience, but the content also suggests diminishing returns as you move up the range.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, or an XT turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer-four with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Both pair with a CVT and all-wheel drive, and the base engine is described as more than adequate for most drivers.
• Safety package: Every Outback comes with Subaru’s EyeSight suite, including frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep and lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, automatic emergency steering, emergency stop assist, haptic steering wheel alerts, a driver condition monitor, adaptive headlights, and automatic high beams. The Touring trim adds a surround-view camera system, hands-free automated highway driving assist, active lane-change assist, and highway pre-curve speed control.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both work wirelessly, and a wireless charging pad is available; native navigation is optional on the base Premium trim and standard on the others.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is estimated at 27 mpg combined, while the turbocharged XT models are estimated at 24 mpg combined. The Wilderness is rated at 23 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2026 Subaru Outback is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Touring, and Wilderness.

Here’s the short version:

• Premium: This is the best-value choice if you want the core Outback experience without paying for extras you may not use. It already gives you the redesigned cabin, standard EyeSight safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the base engine that the experts found more capable than expected.
• Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale Outback and the most advanced driver-assistance content. It adds premium convenience and safety features, but the price jump is substantial, so it makes the most sense if you’ll actually use the added equipment.
• Wilderness: This is the pick for you if off-road use matters more than value. It brings more adventure-focused capability, but the content suggests the standard Outback already handles moderate terrain well, so this trim is best for buyers who truly need the extra hardware.

The Touring trim also adds a handful of premium safety and convenience features, while the surround-view camera system is available on supporting trims as an option.

Should I buy a 2026 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesigned model blends SUV-like styling, wagon practicality, and strong off-road ability with comfortable on-road manners.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It offers a distinctive wagon shape with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety ratings.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Outback with the broadest mix of practicality, comfort, and capability, the 2026 is the better target. If you’re more price-sensitive and want a distinctive, capable wagon with proven strengths, the 2025 is worth a look.
