How much does the 2026 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 12.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,860 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 RAM 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2026 RAM 1500 earns a 4.3/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

The 2026 RAM 1500 stands out for its multiple powertrain options, premium interior materials in high-end models, and both luxurious and off-road-ready versions. That makes it a flexible full-size pickup if you want a truck that can be configured for comfort, capability, or a mix of both.

The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and there is no base two-door work truck. If you want a truck with broad appeal and strong equipment depth, it fits well; if you want the cheapest possible work-focused setup, you may need to look elsewhere.

35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 RAM 1500’s return of the Hemi V8 adds character, but the broader lineup still leans on multiple engine choices and a well-developed truck platform. The expert review also notes that the V8 goes about its business smoothly, and that the truck offers strong towing and payload capability depending on configuration.

Ram also includes a three-year trial for its hands-free driver-assistance package, which can help reduce some ownership friction if you choose that equipment. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the truck you pick has the right equipment and condition for how you plan to use it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and inspect any candidate carefully, especially if you’re shopping for a higher-trim truck with more equipment to verify. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the truck’s features match the way you’ll actually use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Tradesman models are pretty basic, with cloth seats and lots of plastic trim, while Big Horn adds more visual flair, Laramie brings leather, Limited and Limited Longhorn add open-pore wood trim, and Tungsten gets high-end leather surfaces. Lower trims also have simpler audio and display setups, so feature gaps are most obvious at the bottom of the lineup.
• Powertrain: The base 3.6-liter V6 makes 305 hp and 271 lb-ft, the Hemi V8 makes 395 hp and 410 lb-ft, the standard-output Hurricane inline-six makes 420 hp and 469 lb-ft, and the high-output Hurricane makes 540 hp and 521 lb-ft. The turbocharged six is the stronger value on paper, while the Hemi is more about character than class-leading output.
• Safety package: Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross traffic alert come standard. Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard on Tungsten and available on other models through option packages, while Hands-Free Active Driving Assist comes with the Advanced Safety Group II package.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is standard, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Screen setups vary by trim, with base Tradesman models getting a small 3.5-inch driver display, most trucks getting a 7-inch or 12-inch display, and a 10.25-inch passenger screen available on mid- and upper-grade models.
• Fuel efficiency: The Hemi V8 gets a mild fuel-efficiency bump from eTorque, and the turbocharged six delivers superior fuel economy by just two additional mpg in a 4WD truck.

Which 2026 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2026 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, RHO, Limited, Limited Longhorn, Tungsten.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-focused starting point, but it’s also the most stripped-down version, with cloth seats, lots of plastic trim, a six-speaker audio system, and a small 3.5-inch driver display. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and don’t need much luxury.
• Express: This trim sits near the lower end of the lineup and keeps the blacked-out look, making it a simple step up if you want a little more style without moving far upmarket.
• Warlock: Like the other lower-end models, it keeps the blacked-out grille treatment and is aimed at buyers who want a tougher appearance without jumping into premium territory.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more style than the base trucks without pushing into luxury pricing. The test truck’s etched trim and available nine-speaker audio show how much more livable it can feel.
• Laramie: This is the first trim where the cabin starts to feel genuinely upscale, with leather and a smart two-tone color scheme. It’s a strong choice if you want comfort and a more polished interior.
• Rebel: This is the off-road-oriented choice in the lineup, and it also can be equipped with the Harman Kardon audio system. Pick it if you want a more rugged personality and the equipment to match.
• RHO: This is another off-road model, so it belongs on your list if you want that character in a more specialized package.
• Limited: This trim brings open-pore wood trim and standard Harman Kardon audio, making it a strong luxury-leaning option.
• Limited Longhorn: This is the more distinctive upscale choice if you want the same premium treatment with a different personality.
• Tungsten: This is the top luxury trim, with high-end leather surfaces, the 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system, and the most advanced standard safety content in the lineup.

The safety package is strongest on Tungsten, where Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,860 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $50,980, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $50,980 sits slightly below last year's $58,255.

That price decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price more competitively. If you buy at the right number now, you may have less downside risk than someone who bought when prices were higher.

The truck’s broad appeal, multiple powertrain choices, and premium-trim reputation should help it stay relevant with shoppers later on. Well-equipped examples with strong condition and desirable features should hold attention better than bare-bones trucks.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard on Tungsten and available on other trims through option packages.

Ram’s Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is included with the Advanced Safety Group II package. It is a hands-free system, but it still requires driver attention and only works on certain roads.

Should I buy a 2026 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The Hemi V8 returns for 2026, giving this year a distinctive character and broader appeal for buyers who want a V8.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $42,660, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $50,980 average.
• It brings a major update with new tech, new powertrain options, and a hands-free driver-assistance system.

The bottom line: If you want the year with the Hemi V8’s return and a softer used-market price trend, the 2026 is the more distinctive pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 remains the smarter value play.
