New & Used 2026 Nissan LEAF for Sale nearPalm Desert, CA

Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF a good car?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF earns an expert rating of 7.83/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The redesign gives you more range, updated tech and charging hardware, and styling that looks more crossover than hatchback. It also keeps the low pricing that has long been part of the model’s appeal, so you get an EV that is meant to be approachable rather than flashy. The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the back seat is cramped.

For you, that means the LEAF makes the most sense if you want an affordable EV with modernized hardware and a more contemporary look, and you can live with a few everyday compromises. Good and great deals account for 57.5% of listings, which supports the value case.

Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF reliable?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF is presented as a mature redesign of Nissan’s long-running EV, with updated charging hardware and a liquid-cooled battery pack that should help support everyday use. The performance notes also point to a planted ride from the multilink rear suspension and enough compliance to absorb bumps, which is a good sign for routine driving comfort over time.

The cost-effectiveness details add that Nissan includes an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty covering both mechanical issues and loss of capacity beyond a set amount, along with a five-year/60,000-mile EV-system warranty. The new setup also supports pre-cooling in all models, and Google Maps can help plan charging stops and automatically start battery preconditioning on equipped trims.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is still battery health and charging behavior, so you should pay close attention to how the car was charged and whether it has been used in ways that may have accelerated wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Nissan LEAF?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition and charging habits matter. Focus on overall condition, charging-port wear, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging. If possible, ask for battery state-of-health information and review any remaining warranty coverage before you buy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims use simpler hardware and fewer convenience features, while higher trims add larger displays, Google built-in apps, more USB-C ports, a wireless device charger, and upgraded audio. The base setup is the most stripped-down, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: The LEAF uses a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup. Base models make 174 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque with a 52-kWh battery pack, while other trims are rated at 214 hp and 261 lb-ft with a 75-kWh pack.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system. ProPilot Assist is also standard, combining automated lane-centering with adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: S and S+ models have a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while SV+ and Platinum+ models get a 14.3-inch version. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Google built-in apps are added on SV+ and Platinum+ models.
• Range & charging: The Leaf S+ is rated at 303 miles, the SV+ at 288 miles, and the Platinum+ at 259 miles. Nissan says a 10%-80% DC fast charge takes 35 minutes, and the battery pack supports pre-cooling for charging performance.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car was DC fast charged versus charged at home, and confirm how much of the eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains. A used EV with mostly home charging and steady battery health is usually the safer long-term bet.

Which 2026 Nissan LEAF trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF is offered in 4 trim levels: Leaf S, Leaf S+, SV+, Platinum+.

Here's the short version:

• Leaf S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core LEAF experience at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you want the cheapest way into the redesigned car and can live without the extra range and upgraded tech found higher up.
• Leaf S+: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the bigger battery and the 303-mile range figure while staying below the more expensive trims. If you want the strongest mix of price and usable range, this is the one to focus on.
• SV+: This trim adds the larger 14.3-inch display, Google built-in apps, rear USB-C ports, a wireless device charger, and a six-speaker audio system. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Platinum+: This is the most feature-rich version, with the larger screen, Google built-in apps, a 10-speaker Bose Personal Plus audio system, TailorFit seating material on both rows, and vehicle-to-load capability. It is the right pick if you want the most upscale LEAF experience.

ProPilot Assist is standard across the lineup.

Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF safe?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF was not yet rated by IIHS or NHTSA at the time of this review.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system. Nissan’s ProPilot Assist highway-driving system is also standard, combining automated lane-centering with adaptive cruise control.

One caveat is that the basic ProPilot Assist setup can wobble a bit when following lanes, so you should treat it as a helpful driver aid rather than a fully polished hands-off system.

Should I buy a 2026 Nissan LEAF or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 57.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 redesign brings more range, up-to-date tech and charging hardware, and crossover-like styling.

The bottom line: If you want the newest LEAF with the strongest mix of range, tech, and value, the 2026 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive and mainly want affordable EV transportation, a nearby older year may still make sense, but you give up the redesign’s updated hardware and more modern presentation.
