New & Used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE for Sale nearPalm Desert, CA

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns an expert rating of 6.67/10. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

That score lines up with the GLE’s appeal as a luxury midsize SUV that gives you a wide range of configurations, premium interior materials, and strong performance potential. It is offered in standard and coupe body styles, with four-, six-, and eight-cylinder engines, and Mercedes adds a standard AMG Line exterior design to the six-cylinder GLE 450 for 2026. The cabin presentation is a highlight, with quality materials and a polished layout.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is uninspired, the ride quality is poor, and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the GLE’s broad appeal is easy to understand if you want a comfort-focused luxury SUV with plenty of equipment and a strong tech story.

Good and great deals account for 36.3% of listings, so you have a meaningful number of value opportunities to compare.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE is presented as a mainstream luxury SUV with a four-year/50,000-mile warranty and free roadside assistance. Its overall positioning suggests a vehicle built for premium comfort and long-distance use, and the expert evaluation describes it as a likeable luxury SUV with modern powertrains and technology.

The performance write-up also points to a strong mechanical foundation in the GLE 450, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, mild-hybrid technology, and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes also includes a limited subscription to connected services, and the cost-effectiveness notes mention that some rivals offer more added value through complimentary scheduled service.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is more about value retention and upkeep costs than basic capability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-spec example with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, wheel and tire wear, and whether the vehicle has the options you actually want, since the GLE’s equipment spread is wide.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GLE 350 is the least-expensive model and is the only one noted without standard AWD, while higher versions add more equipment and capability. The Manufaktur Edition Package adds exclusive paint, 21-inch wheels, a Night Package, Nappa premium leather, and the Driver Assistance Package, making it the most feature-rich setup described here.
• Powertrain: The GLE 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with mild-hybrid technology, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The lineup also includes four-, six-, and eight-cylinder engines, and the GLE 450e plug-in hybrid is mentioned as a turbo-four model with 49 miles of estimated electric-only range.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep and centering assist, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic braking assist, and speed-management functions tied to signs, curves, and following distances. It also includes Active Emergency Stop Assist and touch-sensing steering wheel monitoring, while many of these features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The MBUX system uses a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the Exclusive Package adds a Burmester surround-sound system, Dolby Atmos, augmented-reality navigation, and online music streaming.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLE 450 is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, and the plug-in hybrid GLE 450e is described as offering 49 miles of estimated electric-only range.

Which 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 10 trim levels: GLE 350, GLE 450, GLE 450e, AMG GLE 63 S Coupe, GLE 350 SUV, GLE 450 4Matic Coupe, GLE 350 4Matic, GLE 450 4Matic, GLE 500e 4Matic, and GLE 580 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350: This is the entry point, and it is the least-expensive version mentioned. It makes sense if you want the GLE name and basic luxury-SUV appeal at the lowest price, but it is also the trim where the standard-equipment gaps matter most.
• GLE 450: This is the best-value choice in the information provided. It brings the turbocharged inline-six, mild-hybrid tech, strong standard equipment, and the more upscale feel that fits the GLE’s mission without jumping into the highest-priced versions.
• GLE 450e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the estimated 49-mile electric-only range. It is the efficiency-focused option in the lineup.
• AMG GLE 63 S Coupe: This is the top-end performance-flavored model mentioned, with standard AWD and a hand-built twin-turbo V8. It suits you if you want the most expensive and most powerful version described here.
• GLE 350 SUV: This appears as a base-model configuration in the broader lineup and is the most budget-oriented path into the standard body style.
• GLE 450 4Matic Coupe: This is the coupe-bodied six-cylinder choice and is the one to consider if you want the GLE’s more dramatic roofline with the stronger engine.
• GLE 350 4Matic: This is the all-wheel-drive four-cylinder option for buyers who want standard AWD without moving up to the six-cylinder.
• GLE 450 4Matic: This is the all-wheel-drive six-cylinder version and is the most balanced choice if you want the stronger engine with standard AWD.
• GLE 500e 4Matic: This plug-in hybrid combines an inline-six with an electric motor for 429 horsepower and about 50 miles of electric range.
• GLE 580 4Matic: This V8-powered version makes 530 horsepower and is the choice if you want the strongest non-AMG powertrain mentioned.

The safety package note is important: many driver-assistance features are reserved for the Driver Assistance Package, so check carefully for that equipment on any used example.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE safe?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS for the 2025 calendar year, but its front-crash prevention tech earned low ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit assist, automatic high-beam headlights, Pre-Safe Sound, front and rear sensors, a surround-view camera system, and a semi-automated parking system. Many of the more advanced driver aids are reserved for the Driver Assistance Package, which adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep and centering assist, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic braking assist, and automatic speed-management functions.

That package also includes Active Emergency Stop Assist and touch-sensing steering wheel monitoring. The main caveat is that the route-based speed-adjustment feature and automated lane-change assist were inconsistent in testing, so you should verify that the systems behave the way you expect before buying.

Should I buy a 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Mercedes adds a standard AMG Line exterior design to the six-cylinder GLE 450, and there is a new Manufaktur Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It adds two new configurations and several new paint colors while keeping the same broad GLE formula.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the current GLE with the 2026 updates and a healthy share of good deals, start here. If you are shopping mainly on price and want a similar overall formula, the 2025 is worth a look because it keeps the same core appeal and may be easier to find at a lower asking price.
