New & Used 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE for Sale nearGrand Rapids, MI

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE a good car?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE earns a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

That lines up with the car’s role as a premium two-door that blends style, comfort, and approachable tech. The overview describes it as a refined, upscale coupe/convertible with E-Class-like size and a slightly less premium C-Class interior, so you get a distinctive mix of presence and polish rather than full-flagship luxury.

The trade-offs are real: cargo space is limited, pricing is premium, and some recommended driver-assist features are not standard.

With 34.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE reliable?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE is presented as a well-equipped premium model with a strong emphasis on refinement and everyday usability. The overview frames it as a comfort- and style-focused two-door, while the expert notes say every CLE performs well and that the AMG 53 version is a finely tuned grand tourer rather than a hardcore track car.

The performance write-up also points to a sophisticated setup: a turbocharged inline-six, a 48-volt starter-generator, smooth power delivery, and advanced chassis hardware. That kind of engineering usually supports a polished ownership experience when maintained properly.

The cost-effectiveness notes add that the CLE 53’s fuel economy is decent for its performance level, which helps soften day-to-day running costs a bit. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is still a premium, high-complexity car, so upkeep can be expensive if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a premium two-door where repairs can be costly. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the car’s equipment and options match what you expect from the listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CLE 53 lineup emphasizes a low, sleek design, with wider fenders, bigger wheels, a more planted stance, and a power cloth soft top on the Cabriolet. Inside, it adds a chunky AMG steering wheel, aluminum pedals, sport bucket seats, and richer trim materials, while the base-level feel is still softened by some harder plastics lower in the cabin.
• Powertrain: The CLE 53 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 443 horsepower, a 48-volt starter-generator, and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive. It delivers quick acceleration, smooth power delivery, and strong chassis balance.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, a driver-attention monitor, automatic parking, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitors, an exit warning system, and a surround-view camera system. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, active blind-spot monitors, intersection assist, automatic lane-change capability, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, and evasive steering assist.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation with a year of map updates and live traffic information, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, and a SiriusXM satellite radio trial.
• Fuel efficiency: The coupe is EPA-rated at 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined, while the convertible is rated at 19/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined.

Which 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE is offered in 3 trim levels: CLE 300 4Matic, CLE 450 4Matic, CLE 53.

Here's the short version:

• CLE 300 4Matic: This is the value-oriented entry point if you want the CLE’s style and comfort without jumping to AMG pricing. It’s the least expensive way into the lineup and makes the most sense if you care more about the body style and premium feel than maximum performance.
• CLE 450 4Matic: This is the middle ground if you want more power and a stronger all-around balance than the CLE 300 4Matic, but don’t need the full AMG treatment. It should suit you if you want a more upscale performance step without going all the way to the top.
• CLE 53: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete version of the car’s personality. It adds the strongest performance, the most athletic chassis tuning, and the richest AMG character, while still keeping the ride polished enough for everyday use.

The safety package note is worth keeping in mind: some recommended driver-assist features are not standard.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE safe?

There are no crash-test results for the CLE, which isn't unusual for a high-end, low-volume car.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, high-beam assist, a driver-attention monitor, automatic parking, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitors, an exit warning system, and a surround-view camera system. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, active blind-spot monitors, intersection assist, automatic lane-change capability, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, and evasive steering assist.

A key caveat is that true hands-free highway driving capability isn’t available, and some recommended driver-assist features cost extra.

Should I buy a 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 CLE 53 is a stylish grand tourer with excellent ride-and-handling balance.

Consider the 2025 if:

• The 2025 offers three trims and broad appeal for luxury coupe or convertible shoppers.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2026 if you want the latest version of the CLE’s style, tech, and AMG polish, especially if you’re focused on the CLE 53. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers the same basic formula with a broader trim spread and may be easier to shop against your budget.
