New & Used 2026 Lexus GX for Sale nearSalt Lake City, UT

Is the 2026 Lexus GX a good car?

The 2026 Lexus GX earns a 7/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10. The 2026 GX is built around serious off-road capability, strong towing, and everyday usefulness, while still giving you a premium cabin and easy-to-use technology. It seats up to seven people, can tow just over 9,000 pounds when properly equipped, and can hold more than 90 cubic feet of cargo.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and a cramped third row. It also asks you to accept a more utility-first approach than many luxury SUVs, especially if you want something that feels more road-focused.

For you, that means the GX makes the most sense if you want a luxury SUV that can handle rough terrain and towing without giving up cargo space or tech. The market is moderately favorable, with 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX reliable?

The 2026 Lexus GX is presented as a rugged, body-on-frame luxury SUV with a strong emphasis on durability and capability. It shares its GA-F platform with the larger Lexus LX and the Toyota Land Cruiser, and the expert notes describe it as a vehicle that can handle demanding use while still working well for commuting and errands.

The performance notes also point to hardware that supports long-term dependability in tough conditions: a twin-turbocharged V6, standard full-time 4WD, a locking center differential, and, on Overtrail models, additional off-road equipment such as an electronic locking rear differential and hill-descent control. The cost-effectiveness notes also frame the GX as a Lexus with a stronger reliability track record than some alternatives.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the GX’s capability comes with poor fuel economy, so running costs can stay high even if the vehicle itself proves durable.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the specific truck you’re considering matches the equipment you want, especially if you’re shopping for a trim with off-road hardware. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the drivetrain, suspension, and any trail-use wear, since this SUV is often bought for demanding use. Pay close attention to cabin condition too, because the GX’s utility-first design and third-row packaging make interior wear and space usage especially important.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+ trims differ in equipment, and the base trims can miss some of the extra stuff that comes with the + versions. The Overtrail has the most rugged appearance, with gray wheel arch cladding, simulated skid plates, ladder-type roof rails, knobby all-terrain tires, and exclusive gray wheels.
• Powertrain: Every GX 550 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard full-time 4WD. The Overtrail adds an electronic locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, hill-descent control, and a low-speed cruise control system.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The GX also has blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.
• Infotainment: Every GX has a 12.3-inch configurable digital driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes complimentary trial subscriptions to connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is described as thirsty, and the EPA says it gets 17 mpg in combined city and highway driving.

Which 2026 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus GX is offered in 6 trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Overtrail, Overtrail+, Luxury, and Luxury+.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it gives you the GX formula without the extra equipment that comes with the higher trims. It makes sense if you want the core capability and are willing to keep things simple.
• Premium+: This is the best-value trim if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury models.
• Overtrail: This is the one to choose if you care most about rugged looks and off-road hardware. It adds the most trail-focused equipment and is the trim the expert notes praise most for wilderness use.
• Overtrail+: Pick this if you want the Overtrail’s capability plus more of the extra stuff that comes with the + treatment.
• Luxury: This is the better fit if you want the GX to feel more upscale and less trail-focused.
• Luxury+: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped luxury version of the GX.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so your trim decision mostly comes down to how much comfort, luxury, and off-road hardware you want.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Lexus reported no changes to the SUV for 2026.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It pairs strong capability with great standard tech and safety equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the current GX formula and like the idea of shopping a year with no reported changes, the 2026 is the straightforward pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2025 can still give you the same basic strengths with a potentially easier entry point.
