New & Used 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport for Sale nearElkridge, MD

Is the 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a good car?

The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport earns an expert rating of 7/10. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

That score fits a luxury SUV that leans hard into prestige, performance, and customization, with the tested SV Carbon described as the fastest and most extreme vehicle Land Rover has ever made. It also brings tasteful styling and impressive capability on any surface, which helps explain why it can justify its very high price and compete in such a rarefied space.

The trade-offs are real, though: you give up physical controls for critical functions, and the interior uses cheaper materials than the last generation. Even so, it remains aimed at buyers who want a top-of-class experience and are willing to pay for it. Good and great deals account for 36.5% of listings.

Is the 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport reliable?

The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is described as having poor reliability, which is one of the main reasons to approach it carefully as a used buy. The expert evaluation also points to a vehicle that is impressive in capability and performance, but not one that inspires confidence on long-term ownership costs or hassle-free use.

Its performance hardware is substantial, with mild-hybrid gas powertrains, standard 4WD, locking differentials, and adaptive dampers and air springs across the lineup. That setup supports the SUV’s broad capability, but it also adds complexity. The cost-effectiveness commentary reinforces that this is an expensive vehicle to own, and the lack of simpler cabin controls suggests a more complicated ownership experience overall.

If you buy used, long-term ownership risk is elevated, so a strong service history matters more than usual.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a vehicle with this much technology and hardware complexity. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the features you care about work as intended, since this SUV’s appeal depends heavily on its equipment and execution.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin design is elegant, but the base setup is held back by the removal of physical controls for climate, stereo, and Terrain Response functions. Higher trims add more upscale materials, including softer leather options, while the SV Carbon layers on carbon-fiber exterior details, carbon wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with 355 horsepower, a more powerful version with 395 horsepower, a plug-in hybrid setup with up to 53 miles of EPA-rated gas-free driving and 454 horsepower in hybrid mode, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 523 horsepower, and SV models with 626 horsepower.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-attention monitor. There are no safety option packages on higher trims.
• Infotainment: The SUV uses a 13.1-inch display, and Apple CarPlay works in full screen. The factory navigation and audio interface are also strong points, and the surround-view cameras are very clear.
• Fuel efficiency: The base six-cylinder is rated at 22 mpg combined, 20 mpg city, and 25 mpg highway. The V8 is rated at 19 mpg combined, 16 mpg city, and 23 mpg highway, while plug-in hybrids offer 21 mpg combined when the battery is depleted.

Which 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport trim should I buy?

The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is offered in 8 trim levels: SE, Dynamic SE, Dynamic SE plug-in hybrid, Battersea Edition, Twenty Edition, Autobiography, SV, and SV Carbon.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Range Rover Sport experience with the standard inline-six, mild-hybrid setup, 4WD, locking differentials, adaptive dampers, air springs, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the nameplate and capability without chasing extras.
• Dynamic SE: This trim adds the more powerful 395-horsepower version of the inline-six, making it the best-value choice if you want stronger response without jumping to the pricier hybrid or V8 models.
• Dynamic SE plug-in hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice, pairing the inline-six with plug-in capability, up to 53 miles of electric driving, and 454 horsepower in hybrid mode. It suits you if you can charge regularly and want the broadest powertrain flexibility.
• Battersea Edition: This trim makes the plug-in hybrid standard, so it is for buyers who want that electrified setup without stepping into the more expensive upper trims.
• Twenty Edition: This is the gateway to the V8, bringing the 523-horsepower engine and a more serious performance character. It is the right pick if you want the V8 experience without going all the way to SV territory.
• Autobiography: This is the other V8 path, aimed at buyers who want the stronger engine in a more upscale, luxury-oriented package.
• SV: This is the performance flagship, with 626 horsepower, a sport exhaust, and the most extreme hardware in the lineup. It is for buyers who want the most dramatic driving experience.
• SV Carbon: This is the most exclusive and most expensive version, adding carbon-fiber visual drama, carbon wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes. It is the one to buy if you want the ultimate statement trim and are willing to pay for it.

There are no safety option packages on higher trims.
