New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearWichita Falls, TX

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — you rate it 4/5, and the expert rating is 7.8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The 2026 Kona stands out in the small-crossover class for its size, passenger room, and cargo volume, and it also offers turbocharging and all-wheel drive. Hyundai simplified the lineup this year, reducing it to four trim levels with mostly cosmetic differences, and more safety features are standard.

The main trade-offs are the polarizing styling and the unimpressive base powertrain, and some controls can be hard to read. Even so, it still comes across as a strong choice if you want a spacious, well-equipped small SUV with broad appeal.

Good and great deals account for 39.7% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Kona’s warranty coverage is a major strength, with 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage, five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage, and five years of complimentary roadside assistance with unlimited miles. Its standard and available technology, plus the strong safety package, also support the case for confident ownership.

The performance notes point to a generally capable small SUV, though the base engine is described as underwhelming and the ride-and-brake behavior can be less polished than you’d want over time. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about condition and maintenance history than about a single glaring reliability red flag.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with AWD and the turbo engine. Focus on cabin readability, brake feel, and ride quality on rough pavement, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is split into SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited, and the easiest way to tell them apart is by wheel size and design. The base trim misses the turbocharged setup and the more upscale cabin touches, so you should pay close attention to whether the equipment gap matters to you.
• Powertrain: The SE and SEL Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft, while the SEL Premium and Limited get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft. The turbo also pairs with an eight-speed automatic, while the base engine uses a CVT.
• Safety package: Every Kona has adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and a system that can brake for left-turn and oncoming-traffic collision avoidance. Higher trims can add a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: Every Kona has a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluelink+ connected services. The Limited adds two 12.3-inch screens side by side, and wireless smartphone charging is standard on most Konas.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine’s combined fuel economy ranges from 27 to 31 mpg, depending on trim and AWD, while turbocharged versions range from 26 to 28 mpg. Testing returned 26.4 mpg on one loop and 26.3 mpg on another.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Kona’s space, standard safety tech, and core infotainment without paying for the turbo engine or extra cabin upgrades.
• SEL Sport: This trim adds a little more style and equipment than the SE, but it still keeps the base 2.0-liter engine, so it’s best if you care more about appearance and value than acceleration.
• SEL Premium: This is the best-value choice if you want the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, the eight-speed automatic, and a more satisfying driving experience without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, with the dual 12.3-inch screen setup and the most upscale presentation, so it suits you if you want the Kona at its most polished.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, and higher trims add useful camera and parking aids rather than filling in major safety gaps.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

It’s a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Clean inventory: 92.9% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The Kona earns the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The imperfect score is due to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite is unusually comprehensive for this class. You get adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and left-turn/oncoming-traffic collision-avoidance braking.

Higher trims can add a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist. The main caveat is the frontal-impact NHTSA result, which keeps the Kona from being a perfect score.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Hyundai simplified the lineup and added more standard safety features this year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It keeps the Kona’s practical space and standard advanced safety features with minimal change.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of space, tech, and safety, the 2026 is the better default choice. If you’re shopping mainly on price, the 2025 can still make sense because it preserves the Kona’s core strengths and may be easier on your budget.
