New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearJasper, AL

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — you rate the 2026 Hyundai Kona 4/5, and CarGurus experts rate it 7.83/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The Kona stands out in the small-crossover class for its size, passenger room, and cargo volume, and it also offers turbocharging and all-wheel drive. Its technology is described as impressive for the segment, and Hyundai simplified the lineup this year while adding more standard safety features.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is polarizing, the base powertrain is unimpressive, and some controls can be hard to read. Even so, it still comes across as a strong choice if you want a spacious, well-equipped small SUV with broad appeal.

41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there’s meaningful value in the market.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Kona’s warranty coverage is a major strength, with 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage, five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage, and complimentary roadside assistance for five years and unlimited miles. The expert assessment also points to strong cost-effectiveness, helped by the warranty, standard and available technology, and safety content.

Its performance notes are mixed: the turbocharged version is more satisfying, while the base engine is described as underwhelming. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about durability and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding the weaker base setup if you want a more satisfying daily drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with larger wheels and AWD. Focus on cabin condition, brake feel, and how the controls read in daylight, since the model’s usability quirks and ride quality are part of the ownership experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is split into SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited, with the biggest differences showing up in wheel design, styling details, and equipment. The base trims are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about stronger acceleration and richer features.
• Powertrain: The SE and SEL Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft, while the SEL Premium and Limited get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft. The turbo also pairs with a more satisfying eight-speed automatic, while the base engine uses a CVT.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add features such as Blind-Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: Every Kona gets a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluelink+ connected services. The Limited adds dual 12.3-inch screens, and wireless smartphone charging is standard on most Konas.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns 27 to 31 mpg in combined driving, depending on trim and AWD, while turbo models range from 26 to 28 mpg combined. AWD lowers the turbo’s fuel economy, but it also improves ride quality through a more sophisticated rear suspension.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Kona’s roomy cabin and standard safety tech. It’s also the trim most likely to feel modest in acceleration, so it works best if value matters more than performance.
• SEL Sport: This trim adds a bit more style while staying close to the SE in overall mission. Choose it if you want a nicer look without moving too far up the price ladder.
• SEL Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft, plus the more satisfying eight-speed automatic. If you want the Kona to feel genuinely responsive, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the dual 12.3-inch screen setup and available extras like the surround-view camera and parking aids. It’s the right pick if you want the most technology and convenience in the lineup.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, with a long list of standard driver-assistance features even on lower trims.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2026 Kona earns the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The imperfect score is due to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Kona’s standard driver-assistance suite is unusually comprehensive for the class. You get adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. It also includes a system that can brake to avoid collisions when turning left across traffic or when an oncoming vehicle is headed straight toward the Kona.

Higher trims add Blind-Spot View Monitor, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist. The main caveat is that the NHTSA result is not perfect because of the frontal-impact scores.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Hyundai simplified the lineup and added more standard safety features this year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It stays close to the strengths that already made the Kona a practical, spacious choice.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of safety, technology, and space, the 2026 is the better default choice. If you’re shopping mainly on price and the 2025’s similar formula is enough for your needs, it can still make sense as the value play.
