New & Used 2026 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearChetek, WI

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Generally — the 4/5 user rating and 7.8/10 expert rating point to a strong overall showing for the 2026 Hyundai Kona. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

The Kona stands out in the small-crossover class for its size, passenger room, and cargo volume, and it also offers turbocharging and all-wheel drive. Its technology is described as impressive for the segment, and Hyundai simplified the lineup this year while making more safety features standard.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is polarizing, the base powertrain is unimpressive, and some controls can be hard to read. Even so, the Kona still makes a strong case if you want a spacious, well-equipped small SUV with broad appeal.

Good and great deals account for 34.6% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of shopping leverage.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Kona’s warranty coverage is a major strength, with 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage, five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage, and five years of complimentary roadside assistance. The expert evaluation also describes it as a strong value proposition with impressive standard and available technology.

On the dependability side, the performance notes point to a base engine that feels underpowered and a turbo setup that is more satisfying, while the cost-effectiveness notes emphasize the warranty and included connected services. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding a version whose ride, controls, or efficiency trade-offs don’t fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with larger wheels and more equipment. Focus on overall condition, brake feel, control readability, and whether the trim you’re looking at has the features you want without paying for extras you won’t use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The four trims are SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited. The base trims are more basic, while the higher trims add the turbocharged engine and more upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: The SE and SEL Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 hp and 132 lb-ft, while the SEL Premium and Limited get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft. The turbo also pairs with an eight-speed automatic instead of the CVT used with the base engine.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, and automatic high beams.
• Infotainment: Every Kona has a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluelink+ connected services. The Limited adds two 12.3-inch screens side by side.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns 27 to 31 mpg in combined driving, depending on trim and AWD, while the turbocharged versions return 26 to 28 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2026 Hyundai Kona is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but it’s also the least compelling if you care about acceleration. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the base engine’s modest output.
• SEL Sport: This trim keeps the base powertrain but adds a little more style. It’s a reasonable middle-ground choice if you want the Kona’s space and tech without stretching too far.
• SEL Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it brings the turbocharged engine and the more satisfying eight-speed automatic. If you want the strongest balance of performance and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version, with the dual 12.3-inch display setup and the most premium feel. It’s the right pick if you want the most features and don’t mind paying more for them.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, so even the lower trims give you a lot of standard protection.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Hyundai Kona?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,372 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 92.7% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2026 Kona earns the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The imperfect score is due to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Kona’s standard driver-assistance suite is unusually comprehensive for the class. You get adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, rear occupant warning, safe exit warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and a system that can brake to avoid collisions when turning left across traffic or facing an oncoming vehicle.

Higher trims add a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist. The main caveat is that the steering wheel can’t detect grip, so the system still requires occasional driver input.

Should I buy a 2026 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Hyundai simplified the lineup and made more safety features standard.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It remains practical, spacious, and easy to live with.

The bottom line: The 2026 is the better pick if you want the latest safety content and a simplified lineup with strong tech. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, the 2025 can still make sense because it keeps the Kona’s core strengths while potentially costing less.
