How much does the 2026 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,031 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Honda HR-V a good car?

The 2026 Honda HR-V earns an expert rating of 5.3/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

The HR-V is aimed at you if you want a simple, uncomplicated subcompact SUV with a comfortable driver’s seat and easy-to-use technology. The 2026 refresh adds a larger, more responsive touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging, which helps modernize the cabin without changing the vehicle’s basic character.

The trade-offs are clear: sluggish performance and poor fuel economy are the main drawbacks, and the back seat is also a weak point. Even so, if you value ease of use over flash, the HR-V’s straightforward setup and strong safety reputation make it easy to understand.

37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Honda HR-V reliable?

The 2026 Honda HR-V is presented as a straightforward, easy-to-live-with SUV, and its simple setup is part of the appeal. Honda’s tuning also helps it feel composed in everyday driving, with a multi-link rear suspension and brake-based torque vectoring contributing to a stable, predictable character.

The powertrain is described as working hard, especially when you need to merge, pass, or climb grades, and the real-world fuel economy is called out as disappointing. On the upside, the refreshed infotainment system is more responsive, and every HR-V gets wireless smartphone charging, which adds convenience for daily use.

Honda also includes a maintenance perk in the form of one dealership visit only. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is that the HR-V’s weak powertrain and modest efficiency may continue to feel limiting as mileage adds up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda HR-V?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and how well the tech and driver-assist systems operate in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, Sport, and EX-L each bring different equipment levels, and the base LX is the most stripped-down. The Sport and EX-L add more convenience and safety content, while the EX-L gets the most upscale cabin treatment.
• Powertrain: Every HR-V uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a CVT, and the setup is tuned more for everyday commuting than quick acceleration. The engine works hard, and the model’s efficiency is a weak point.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is limited to the Sport and EX-L, and front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are exclusive to the EX-L.
• Infotainment: The standard touchscreen is 9 inches, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Every HR-V also gets a wireless smartphone charger, but the base LX has only four speakers.
• Fuel efficiency: The HR-V is rated at 28 mpg combined with front-wheel drive or 27 mpg combined with AWD, and the test loop returned 24.8 mpg.

Which 2026 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda HR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the HR-V, but it also has the fewest features. You get the core HR-V formula and the standard safety suite, but the base audio setup is the most basic, so this trim makes the most sense if you care most about price.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a more complete equipment mix without jumping all the way to the top model. If you want a better balance of value and everyday usability, this is the one to focus on.
• EX-L: This is the most upscale HR-V, with leather upholstery, upgraded cabin detailing, front footwell lighting, silver steering wheel spokes, and the most advanced parking-related safety equipment. It suits you best if you want the nicest interior and the fullest feature set.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included on the LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda HR-V?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,031 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,370, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $28,566 sits slightly below last year's $29,080.

That softer pricing suggests the HR-V has lost some value over the past year, which can work in your favor if you’re buying now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the current average is still close to the year-round range, the model appears to be holding relatively steady rather than dropping sharply. If you keep the vehicle in clean condition and avoid overpaying up front, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Is the 2026 Honda HR-V safe?

The 2026 Honda HR-V earns favorable ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is reserved for the Sport and EX-L, while front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are exclusive to the EX-L.

The system is generally unobtrusive, but the adaptive cruise control showed some inconsistent behavior in testing, including delayed reactions and false responses in traffic. That means you should still pay close attention to how the driver aids behave on a test drive.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.77% compared with last year.
• The 2026 refresh matters to you, especially the larger touchscreen, faster response times, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date HR-V with the improved infotainment setup, the 2026 is the right path. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2026 gives you the freshest tech and a market that is currently a bit more buyer-friendly.
