New & Used 2026 Ford F-150 for Sale near Taos, NM

Is the 2026 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — you rate it 4.5/5, and the expert rating is 6.67/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

The 2026 Ford F-150’s appeal is its breadth: it offers eight trims, three beds, three cabs, and six powertrains, so you can tailor it to work, daily driving, or higher-end use. The overview also frames it as a long-running bestseller in its 14th generation, which helps explain why it remains such a familiar choice for truck shoppers.

The trade-offs are clear in testing. The naturally aspirated V8 is described as lazy, lower-priced versions lack basic amenities, and higher-priced versions are not as luxurious as Ram or GMC. Even so, the market still shows 36.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview points to a proven, long-running truck formula, and the expert notes describe the F-150 as very competitive across its many configurations.

The performance writeup also supports that impression by calling the turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engines more than adequate for moderate towing and noting that the 10-speed automatic pairs well with them. On the ownership side, Ford’s powertrain warranty and lack of scheduled maintenance are described as average for the class.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing the wrong configuration: the truck’s quality and refinement vary a lot by trim and powertrain, so condition and equipment matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Ford F-150?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and inspect the truck closely, especially if it has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Pay extra attention to cabin wear, bed condition, suspension components, and any signs that a lower-trim truck has been worked hard or lightly maintained. If you’re shopping a higher-mileage example, make sure the powertrain and electronics behave as expected under load and during a cold start.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims are where you’ll feel the biggest feature gaps, since the overview says lower-priced versions lack basic amenities. The interior is described as handsome and functional, but the nicer materials are concentrated higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The 2.7-liter turbo V6 is standard on STX and XLT, while the 5.0-liter V8 is described as lazy in launch and midrange response. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is the best all-rounder, and the Raptor variants bring much more output.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert, forward automatic emergency braking with intersection assist and pedestrian detection, evasive steering assist, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control and BlueCruise are optional, and some airbags are not available.
• Infotainment: A 12-inch touchscreen with Sync 4, a 4-inch instrument display, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. BlueCruise is available only on select trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at 23 mpg city, and the tested V8 truck is rated at 17 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Ford F-150 is offered in 8 trim levels: XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the fewest comforts. It is the trim where you’re most likely to feel the basic-amenity compromises.
• STX: This is the best-value starting point for many shoppers because it adds more everyday appeal without jumping too far up the price ladder. It also serves as the basis for the test truck’s Lobo appearance package.
• XLT: This is the sensible step-up if you want more equipment and access to BlueCruise as an option. It’s a good middle ground for buyers who want a more complete truck without going luxury.
• Lariat: This is the first trim where the F-150 starts to feel more upscale, with more available comfort and tech features. It suits buyers who want a nicer daily driver and are willing to pay for it.
• Tremor: This is the choice if you want a more rugged personality and the stronger 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. It also gets BlueCruise availability and a more distinctive setup.
• King Ranch: This is the luxury-leaning trim with distinctive styling, richer interior color treatment, and the standard 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. It’s for buyers who want a premium-feeling truck with strong capability.
• Platinum: This is the polished upscale pick, with more premium interior treatment and the same strong twin-turbo V6. It’s a good fit if you want comfort and tech over flash.
• Raptor: This is the performance and off-road specialist, with lifted, widened hardware and serious output. It’s the right choice only if you want that specific high-performance character.

Safety-package note: BlueCruise is optional on XLT, Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch, and Platinum, and unavailable on other trims.

Is the 2026 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2026 Ford F-150 earns a Good rating in the IIHS small overlap and side crash tests, but a Poor rating in the front moderate overlap test. It also earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, including five-star ratings in the frontal and side crash tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert, forward automatic emergency braking with intersection assist and pedestrian detection, evasive steering assist, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control is optional, along with BlueCruise.

The main caveat is the IIHS front moderate overlap result, which is a meaningful weak spot even with the strong NHTSA performance.

Should I buy a 2026 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the F-150’s huge trim, cab, bed, and powertrain range while reshuffling equipment across the lineup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It offers the same broad lineup with added driver-assistance systems and a new Platinum Plus package.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of the F-150’s broad configuration range and are shopping the current market, the 2026 is the cleaner default choice. If you’re price-sensitive and find a well-equipped 2025 with the right options, that year remains a smart alternative because it delivers the same core versatility with a slightly different equipment mix.
