New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearGrants Pass, OR

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns a 7.67/10 expert rating, and it fits a clear role as Chevrolet’s cheapest new car in the United States. It replaces compact sedans and hatchbacks while competing with entry-level crossover SUVs, so you’re looking at a model built around affordability and everyday practicality rather than luxury or performance.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

That strength shows up in the Trax’s stylish design, great handling, and impressive infotainment tech. The trade-offs are just as clear: all-wheel drive is not available, the ergonomic design is poor, and advanced safety features are not standard.

For a buyer who wants a small, useful, budget-friendly crossover with a strong feature set for the money, the Trax makes sense. The market also looks reasonably accessible, with 36.9% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is positioned as a simple, low-cost model with a conventional 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. That straightforward setup helps keep the ownership picture uncomplicated, and the engine is described as not feeling overstressed, with no discernible turbo lag.

Chevrolet also backs it with a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps support long-term confidence for a used buyer. The Trax’s standard active noise cancellation also helps it feel more refined than you might expect from an economy crossover.

If you’re planning to keep one for the long haul, the main ownership risk is that you’re still buying an entry-level vehicle with limited safety equipment unless you move up the trim ladder.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a lower-trim example with fewer convenience and safety features. Focus on overall condition, feature content, and whether the specific car has the driver-assistance equipment you want, since some safety tech is not standard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LS models are the most basic, with 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add larger wheels, nicer interior materials, and more upscale visual details. The base trim is the one most likely to feel stripped down.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive only. It makes 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and there is no all-wheel-drive option.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some lower trims.
• Infotainment: The LS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a four-speaker audio system. Higher trims upgrade to an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is EPA-rated at 29 mpg combined, with 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 5 trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

Here’s the short version:

• LS: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the most basic equipment. You still get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the smaller screen and simpler cabin make it the most stripped-down version.
• 1RS: This trim adds a more distinctive look and nicer wheels without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims. It’s a good middle-ground choice if you want style without overspending.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the 11-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and a more polished interior feel without reaching the top-end pricing of the Activ or 2RS.
• 2RS: Choose this if you want the sportier RS appearance and the larger-wheel look, along with the higher-spec cabin content that comes with the upper trim ladder.
• Activ: This is the most distinctive trim, with black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and unique bumpers. It suits you best if you want the most rugged-looking Trax.

Safety-package note: adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some of the lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting a fire-sale environment.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,987 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 91.4% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns the lowest Poor rating from IIHS in its updated moderate overlap front crash test, while also earning a Good rating in the small overlap front test.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Chevy also includes its Teen Driver monitoring system.

The caution flag here is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the crash-test picture is mixed enough that you should treat safety equipment as a trim-and-package issue rather than a given.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 Trax keeps its stylish design, great handling, and impressive technology, with only two new exterior colors added for the year.

The bottom line: If you want the current Trax’s mix of affordability, style, and tech, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2026 still gives you the same core formula with a healthy share of deal-priced listings.
