New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearEl Paso, TX

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns a 7.7/10 expert rating, and it fits a clear role as Chevrolet’s cheapest new car in the United States. It takes the place of compact sedans and hatchbacks while competing with entry-level crossover SUVs, so you’re looking at a small vehicle that aims to deliver carlike affordability with SUV-style utility.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

That combination shows up in the way the Trax blends style, handling, and infotainment at a low price point. The trade-offs are just as clear: all-wheel drive is not available, advanced safety features are not standard, and the cabin has some ergonomic shortcomings.

With 36.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent amount of market opportunity if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is positioned as a practical, budget-friendly small crossover, and its conventional 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission are part of that straightforward formula. The engine is described as eager off the line, confident at higher speeds, and not overly stressed, which points to a powertrain that should feel manageable in everyday use.

Chevrolet also includes a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps support ownership confidence. The Trax’s standard active noise cancellation and conventional automatic transmission also suggest a setup that avoids some of the complexity buyers may want to sidestep in a low-cost vehicle.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Trax’s value proposition depends on staying ahead of wear items and avoiding a vehicle that has been neglected or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional driver-assistance equipment. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LS models have 17-inch steel wheels and cloth upholstery, while LT, 1RS, and 2RS models add alloy wheels in different sizes and finishes, and Activ models get black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and unique bumpers. Base-trim equipment is simpler, so you’ll want to check whether the features you care about are included before you buy.
• Powertrain: The Trax uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive only. No other engines are available, and all-wheel drive is not offered.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some of the lower trim levels.
• Infotainment: The LS base model has an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and a four-speaker audio system. Higher trims get an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is EPA-rated at 29 mpg combined, with 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 5 trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Trax’s core value story with the standard 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and the full set of standard driver-assist features. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it’s also the most basic version.
• 1RS: This trim adds a more distinctive look with alloy wheels and RS-specific styling touches, while also moving you into the higher-grade interior and tech setup. It’s a good fit if you want more personality without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it combines the larger 11-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and upgraded interior presentation without pushing into the highest-priced versions. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and price, this is the one to focus on.
• 2RS: This trim builds on the RS theme with larger 19-inch alloy wheels and a more upscale appearance. It suits you if style matters more than keeping the price as low as possible.
• Activ: This version leans into a more rugged look with black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and unique bumpers. It’s the right choice if you want the most distinctive appearance in the lineup.

Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some of the lower trim levels.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax has not yet received full safety ratings, and the available crash-test results are mixed. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it the lowest “Poor” rating in its updated moderate overlap front crash test, while also giving it a “Good” rating in the small overlap front test.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Chevy also offers Teen Driver monitoring, which activates available safety features and lets parents monitor driving behavior.

Some helpful safety features are not standard, and adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are only available on higher trim levels in option packages for some lower trims.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 model year adds two new exterior color options: White Sands for Activ and RS models, and Apex Red for RS, LS, and LT models.

The bottom line: If you want the current Trax with its latest color choices and you’re comfortable with its value-focused formula, the 2026 is the straightforward pick. If you’re mainly chasing the lowest price, a nearby model year may still make sense, especially if you find a cleaner or better-equipped example at a discount.
