New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale nearLubbock, TX

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns an expert rating of 5.33/10. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

Chevrolet builds this truck to handle almost any need, and the lineup’s breadth is a real advantage if you want a full-size pickup that can work hard and still serve as an everyday vehicle. The cabin is also a plus in most trim levels, with impressive in-cab tech and a spacious interior that helps the Silverado feel more usable than many rivals.

The trade-offs are just as clear: poor fuel economy and concerning safety ratings hold it back, and blind-spot warning is not standard. It also falls short in towing technology, so even though the value equation is compelling, you’re still looking at a truck that leaves room for improvement.

Good and great deals account for 33.9% of listings, which suggests there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is presented as a truck with broad capability and a strong technology story, but its overall ownership picture is tempered by weak fuel economy and safety concerns. The expert evaluation also points to a truck that can handle daily driving competently, even if it doesn’t feel especially refined on the road.

From the performance notes, the TurboMax setup is described as powerful enough for daily driving, and the Duramax diesel is positioned as the efficiency-focused choice if you want better combined mpg and stronger towing capability. On the cost side, the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a small ownership perk.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is that the Silverado’s weaker efficiency, safety, and towing-tech shortcomings may matter more as mileage and wear add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck that may have been used for towing or heavy work. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, brake feel, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the way you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2, with the base trims described as much more basic inside than the higher trims. If you want the better cabin and technology, you should pay close attention to how much equipment the truck has beyond the entry-level setup.
• Powertrain: You can find a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbocharged diesel six-cylinder, and two V8 engines, and the diesel stands out if you care about efficiency and stronger towing capability. The TurboMax four-cylinder is the one described as powerful enough for daily driving, but it also trails the diesel on fuel economy and towing.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise are not standard on the test truck.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get a 12.3-inch digital display and a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with split-screen functionality, Google built-in, Google Maps, Google Play Store access, Google Assistant, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is a major strength if you want a modern cabin.
• Fuel efficiency: The TurboMax is rated at 18 mpg in combined driving, while the test truck averaged 15.4 mpg in mixed driving and 14.5 mpg in city-only driving. The Duramax diesel is rated at 23-24 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 9 trim levels: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the most basic path into the lineup, and the content makes clear that the lower trims are much simpler inside than the rest of the range. It makes sense if you want the Silverado name and capability first, but not much extra polish.
• Custom: Like the WT, this trim sits in the more stripped-down part of the lineup, so it’s best if you’re shopping on a tighter budget and can live without the nicer cabin and tech found higher up.
• Custom Trail Boss: This trim adds the Trail Boss character to the more basic side of the lineup, so it suits you if you want a more rugged-looking truck without moving all the way up the range.
• LT: This is where the Silverado starts to feel more modern and better equipped, making it a strong middle-ground choice if you want a more livable truck without paying for luxury-trim extras.
• LT Trail Boss: Choose this if you want the more capable-looking Trail Boss flavor but still want to stay below the upper trims.
• RST: This is the best-value trim in the expert test drive because it combines the modern dashboard, strong tech, and a more appealing appearance with a reasonable price point. It’s the trim that best captures the Silverado’s strengths without pushing too far into luxury pricing.
• LTZ: This is the step up if you want a more upscale Silverado experience and are willing to pay for it.
• High Country: This is the premium comfort-oriented choice for buyers who want the most upscale version of the standard lineup.
• ZR2: This is the most specialized trim in the lineup and suits you if you want the most aggressive off-road-oriented version mentioned in the lineup.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every Silverado 1500 trim level, but blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise are not standard on the test truck.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every truck.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,962 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 93.7% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a Marginal rating in the small overlap front evaluation, a Poor rating in the updated moderate overlap frontal impact test, and an Acceptable rating in the updated side impact test from IIHS.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every Silverado 1500 trim level, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The truck also includes a rear-seat reminder, Buckle to Drive, and Teen Driver technology.

The safety picture is weakened by the fact that blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise are not standard on the test truck. The IIHS results are the biggest caution flag here, especially the poor updated moderate overlap frontal score.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Chevy’s expert evaluation says the Silverado’s value equation is compelling enough to overcome its flaws for now, especially if you want the diesel option and strong in-cab technology.

The bottom line: If you want a used Silverado 1500 with broad configuration choices, strong tech, and the available Duramax diesel, the 2026 is worth a close look. If your priorities are safety, fuel economy, or towing-tech sophistication, you may want to compare carefully against other years or other full-size trucks before you commit.
