New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale near Chama, CO

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns an 5.3/10 expert rating, and it is built to meet almost any need with a broad range of configurations and one of the class’s few diesel engine options. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

That said, the trade-offs are real: the truck’s fuel economy is poor, blind-spot warning is not standard, and its safety ratings are concerning. It also falls short in performance and towing technology, so the value case matters more than outright polish.

For you, that means the Silverado makes the most sense if you want a highly configurable full-size pickup with strong in-cab tech and diesel availability, and you can live with some clear compromises. Good and great deals account for 32.0% of listings, which suggests there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is positioned as a broad-appeal full-size pickup, but its reliability story is mixed because the truck’s strengths are offset by weak fuel economy and concerning safety results. The expert review also notes that the Silverado is competent for daily driving, though it can feel boring to drive and shows some rough edges in braking and ride behavior.

On the positive side, the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a small ownership perk. The powertrain is described as powerful enough for daily driving, and the diesel option is called out as the efficiency leader.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is that the truck’s weaker safety and efficiency profile may make it less satisfying over time than rivals, especially if you plan to keep it for many years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a truck that may have been used for towing or heavy-duty work. Focus on overall condition, braking behavior, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the way you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans work-truck simplicity to upscale and off-road-oriented versions, and the base trims are much more basic inside than the higher trims. The more expensive versions bring a more modern cabin and better visual polish.
• Powertrain: You can get a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbocharged diesel six-cylinder, or V8 power, and the diesel stands out for better efficiency and stronger towing capability than the TurboMax four-cylinder.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise are not standard on the test truck.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get a 12.3-inch digital display and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, Google Maps, Google Play Store access, Google Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The TurboMax is rated at 18 mpg combined by the EPA, while the Duramax turbodiesel is rated at 23-24 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 9 trim levels: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the work-focused starting point, but it is the most basic choice and lacks the more polished cabin and technology found higher up the range.
• Custom: A step up from WT, but it still sits on the simpler side of the lineup and is best if you want a lower-cost Silverado without chasing luxury or advanced features.
• Custom Trail Boss: This is the better pick if you want a more rugged look and off-road-leaning setup without moving all the way to the top of the range.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings a more modern, better-equipped cabin without jumping into premium pricing.
• LT Trail Boss: Choose this if you want the LT’s broader appeal with a more trail-ready character.
• RST: This is a strong middle-ground choice if you want the cleaner, more modern interior and the available blacked-out styling seen on the test truck.
• LTZ: Move here if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-oriented equipment.
• High Country: This is the luxury-leaning choice for buyers who want the most premium Silverado experience.
• ZR2: Pick this if you want the most off-road-focused version in the lineup.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every Silverado 1500 trim level.

It also receives Poor headlights and Acceptable front-crash prevention tech ratings.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every Silverado 1500 trim level and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. The truck also includes a rear-seat reminder, Buckle to Drive, and Teen Driver technology.

The main safety shortcoming is that blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise are not standard on the test truck. That leaves the Silverado behind rivals in both crash performance and available driver-assistance depth.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Chevy sells a 2026 Silverado 1500 to meet almost any need, and it’s one of the only trucks in its class with a diesel engine option.

The bottom line: If you want the broadest configuration range and the diesel option in this model year, the 2026 Silverado 1500 is worth a look. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and shop for the best-equipped truck with the cleanest history rather than focusing on this year alone.
