New & Used 2026 BMW M5 for Sale nearPrescott, AZ

Is the 2026 BMW M5 a good car?

The 2026 BMW M5 earns a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

BMW positions it as a high-performance version of the midsize 5 Series, and the appeal is the mix of racetrack-and-autobahn capability with everyday usability. The plug-in hybrid powertrain adds versatility, and the car’s broad comfort-and-speed range makes it especially compelling if you want serious performance without giving up daily livability.

The trade-offs are real, though: the design may be polarizing, and the dashboard and interior are described as awkward and gaudy.

With 37.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 BMW M5 reliable?

The 2026 BMW M5 is presented as a highly engineered performance car with a plug-in hybrid system, adaptive chassis hardware, and a broad range of adjustable driving settings. That kind of complexity can be a strength when everything is working as intended, especially because the car is built to balance speed, comfort, and everyday usability.

BMW’s performance and chassis tuning are described as well-integrated, and the car’s ride remains tolerable even in firmer settings. The plug-in hybrid setup also adds a practical electric-driving layer, which can help reduce fuel use if you charge regularly.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is the usual one for a complex high-performance hybrid: more systems mean more to inspect carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW M5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 99% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the car’s condition matches its mileage and equipment. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance hybrid like this, since you want to confirm that the powertrain, brakes, tires, and electronics all behave as they should. Pay close attention to signs of hard use, especially if the car has track-oriented options or expensive wear items.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The M5 is offered as a sedan and a Touring wagon, and the Touring adds a small rear spoiler and underfloor bracing. The cabin emphasizes drama over elegance, and the base setup already includes a glass roof, while front and rear seat heating and front-seat ventilation are tied to the optional Executive Package.
• Powertrain: You get a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a plug-in hybrid system with a 14.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Total output is 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, and the setup can run in rear-wheel-drive mode for track use.
• Safety package: Standard driver aids include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control with automatic speed limit adjustment, blind-spot monitors, parking sensors, and Backup Assistant. The Driving Assistant Professional Package adds automated lane centering and Traffic Jam Assistant, while higher-speed hands-free driving is not offered.
• Infotainment: The standard BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, version 8.5 of iDrive, a 5G antenna, an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, digital key functionality, and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The sedan is rated at 14 mpg combined, while the wagon is rated at 13 mpg combined. Electric range is 25 miles for the sedan and 24 miles for the wagon.

Which 2026 BMW M5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW M5 is offered in 2 trim levels: sedan and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• sedan: This is the lighter, quicker choice, with a 0–60 mph time of 3.4 seconds and 25 miles of electric range. It’s the better pick if you want the classic M5 formula with the strongest efficiency and the broadest everyday appeal.
• Touring: This is the one to choose if you want the most practical M5. It gives you wagon utility, 24 miles of electric range, and the same 717-horsepower plug-in hybrid setup, making it the best-value choice for shoppers who want performance and cargo flexibility in one package.

The standard safety package already includes a strong set of driver aids, and the available Driving Assistant Professional Package adds lane-centering and Traffic Jam Assistant.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control with automatic speed limit adjustment, blind-spot monitors, parking sensors, and Backup Assistant. The Driving Assistant Professional Package adds automated lane centering for highway driving and Traffic Jam Assistant for stop-and-go traffic at speeds up to 40 mph.

BMW also gives you selectable driver-aid behavior: Sport mode reduces most steering and brake interventions, while Track mode turns everything off completely. That flexibility is useful if you plan to drive the car hard.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW M5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 99% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Changes are limited to a more powerful onboard charger and more paint options.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It introduced the redesigned plug-in hybrid M5 with 717 horsepower and up to 25 miles of electric driving.

The bottom line: The 2026 is the better path if you want the latest version of the redesigned M5 with the same core performance and usability, plus a stronger onboard charger. If you’re shopping primarily on price, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers the same fundamental formula and may offer a lower entry point.
