How much does the 2025 Subaru Ascent cost?

Is the 2025 Subaru Ascent a good car?

The 2025 Subaru Ascent stands out as a family-focused midsize three-row SUV with distinctly Subaru character. It offers standard all-wheel drive, seven- or eight-passenger seating, and a spacious interior, while also bringing a strong safety reputation: it has been an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ every year it has been in production.

It also has the kind of capability many three-row SUVs promise but do not always deliver. The Ascent uses a 260-horsepower 2.4-liter Boxer turbocharged engine and has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds, along with a highway fuel economy of up to 26 mpg and 500 miles of driving range. Cargo space is another strength, with up to 72.8 cubic feet available with all the seatbacks folded. Inside, even the base trim includes a 6.5-inch infotainment screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and four USB ports, while higher trims add features such as blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a larger touchscreen.

That mix of useful updates, strong safety credentials, and genuine family utility makes the 2025 Subaru Ascent appealing, though its fuel economy is not a standout and its third row is described as cramped. 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Subaru Ascent reliable?

The 2025 Subaru Ascent brings a strong safety reputation, standard all-wheel drive, and practical family-focused features that make it easy to live with. It also benefits from Subaru’s steady evolution, including useful equipment and a layout designed around daily family use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should expect a mainstream family SUV experience rather than a trouble-free shortcut around maintenance and condition checks.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re seriously considering, especially if the price looks unusually attractive. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the drivetrain, brakes, tires, and interior wear, since family SUVs often see heavy daily use. Pay close attention to overall condition and maintenance records so you can separate a well-kept example from one that has simply been cleaned up for sale.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,402 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,346, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $36,346 sits slightly below last year's $41,133.

That price movement suggests the Ascent has become more approachable for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position later. The key is to avoid overpaying today, because the current trend shows the market has already moved down.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.64% compared with last year.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $31,986, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $36,346 average.
• It offers a practical, value-focused package with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety credentials.

The bottom line: choose the 2025 if you want the newer model-year pricing context, strong inventory quality, and a broad selection of listings. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better secondary path because it delivers the core Subaru Ascent formula at a lower average price.
