Is the 2025 RAM 1500 a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the sharp looks, smooth ride, and powerful engine options, and they also describe the truck’s quality and finish as a standout. The main trade-offs are that some shoppers feel the price is steep and that the touchscreen features could be better than older versions.

For your use case, the 2025 update is aimed at buyers who want a more upscale full-size pickup with lots of new tech and added capability. That makes it especially appealing if you value refinement and features over bare-bones utility.

With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free enough to inspire confidence over time. The expert drive notes also emphasize smooth shifts and a well-suited steering feel, which supports the sense that the truck is composed in everyday use.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the truck’s condition matches its premium positioning, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim truck with more equipment to verify. Focus on cabin condition, electronics, and whether the truck’s features work as intended, since this model leans heavily on tech and upscale materials.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the base Tradesman to the new top-end Tungsten, with the latter bringing the most premium materials and the most car-like presentation. The base trim gets an 8.4-inch screen, while higher trims add more luxury touches and features such as the passenger display and walk-up animation.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, and Ram also offers new 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six options with stronger output and better efficiency. The eight-speed automatic is standard across the lineup.
• Safety package: The available Hands-Free Driving Assist system can steer, maintain speed, and keep lane position on approved roads, while enhanced automatic emergency braking adds evasive steering assist. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and the surround-view camera are not standard.
• Infotainment: An 8.4-inch screen is standard, a 12-inch screen is available, and the truck can be equipped with a 14.5-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5. The available 10.25-inch passenger screen, wireless charging, and digital displays add to the tech-heavy feel.
• Fuel efficiency: Ram says the new engine architecture should deliver better MPGs, including during towing, but no figure is stated here.

Which 2025 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2025 RAM 1500 is offered in 5 trim levels: Tradesman, Laramie, Rebel, Limited, Tungsten.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point, and it makes the truck’s core capability accessible while still getting the updated 8.4-inch screen and the new-for-2025 tech direction. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest starting price and don’t need luxury extras.
• Laramie: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it unlocks the 10.25-inch passenger screen and starts moving the truck into a more upscale space without jumping all the way to the top. It suits you if you want a strong mix of comfort, tech, and price.
• Rebel: This is the trim to choose if you want the most off-road-focused character in the lineup, with the content highlighting its tougher appearance and off-road hardware. It’s the right fit if trail use matters more than luxury.
• Limited: This trim leans hard into premium comfort and adds features like the walk-up animation, making it a strong pick if you want a luxury-leaning truck without going all the way to Tungsten.
• Tungsten: This is the flagship, with the most premium interior materials, the most distinctive cabin treatment, and the most fully loaded tech presentation. Buy this if you want the most luxurious RAM 1500 experience and price is secondary.

Advanced safety features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,783 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $42,975, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $42,975 sits slightly below last year's $47,011.

That price movement suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A softer market today can also mean less room for appreciation later, so condition and trim choice matter more when you think about resale.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2025 RAM 1500 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Hands-Free Driving Assist system can handle lane centering, speed control, and following distance on approved roads, and it can also prompt the driver to stay attentive if needed. Newly enhanced automatic emergency braking now includes evasive steering assist, and the truck’s cameras can detect a cyclist or motorcycle in the blind spot.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you’ll want to verify equipment carefully on any used listing. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and the surround-view camera are all optional rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2025 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 update adds a new super-luxe trim, more tech, and hands-free driving capability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $51,256, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $42,975 average.
• It brings back the Hemi V8.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and the more affordable entry point, the 2025 is the smarter buy. If the Hemi V8 matters most to you, it may be worth stretching to the 2026, but price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2025.
