Used 2025 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearCedar Rapids, IA

How much does the 2025 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 1.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,028 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated truck with an expert score of 6/10. The 2025 Frontier leans into a traditional pickup formula with a V6 engine, body-on-frame construction, comfortable front seats, quality construction, and traditional controls. It also gets several updates for 2025, including more standard safety equipment, a new 12.3-inch touchscreen on most versions, and improved towing capacity.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

The trade-offs are clear: the technology feels outdated, the safety results are unimpressive, and the value proposition is weak relative to what you pay. If you want a straightforward, durable-feeling midsize pickup with old-school character, the Frontier fits that brief well.

36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Frontier’s appeal comes from its simple, back-to-basics setup: a V6 engine, traditional controls, and a truck that emphasizes solid construction over complexity. The expert evaluation also points to a durable-feeling build and a powertrain that feels satisfying in everyday driving.

It also includes a standard Nissan Maintenance Care package that covers your first three oil changes, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the truck’s older-school technology and mixed safety performance may matter more as the miles add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one that’s been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Frontier is available in S, SV, SL, PRO-X, and PRO-4X trims, and the base S trim keeps the smaller 8-inch touchscreen while most other versions get the new 12.3-inch display. Higher trims add more modern appearance details and more equipment, so the best value depends on whether you want the simplest truck or a better-equipped cabin.
• Powertrain: Every Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 with a nine-speed automatic, and the truck’s traditional setup emphasizes smooth, robust-feeling performance over fuel savings.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and rear automatic braking. Adaptive cruise control is also standard, while the surround-view camera with off-road mode is standard on the SL and optional on some other trims.
• Infotainment: Most versions get a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, NissanConnect services, and available Wi-Fi hotspot access. The base S trim continues with an 8-inch touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Frontier PRO-4X is expected to achieve 18 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 18.8 mpg on an evaluation loop. In heavy city traffic, it returned 15.7 mpg, just shy of its 16-mpg city rating.

Which 2025 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Frontier is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SL, PRO-X, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the simplest way into the Frontier lineup, and it keeps the smaller 8-inch touchscreen. Choose it if you want the lowest-cost path into the truck’s V6, traditional controls, and standard safety equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday appeal without pushing you into the pricier specialty versions. It’s the trim to target if you want a balanced mix of equipment and price.
• SL: This trim is the one to consider if you want the most upscale feel and the standard surround-view camera with off-road mode. It suits you best if convenience and parking help matter more than rugged styling.
• PRO-X: This rear-wheel-drive version gives you the PRO-4X look without the four-wheel-drive hardware. It makes sense if you want the appearance and some of the attitude without paying for the full off-road setup.
• PRO-4X: This is the off-road-focused trim, with Bilstein shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. Buy this one if you want the most capable Frontier for rougher terrain.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the surround-view camera with off-road mode is only standard on the SL and optional on some other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Nissan Frontier?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,028 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,385, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $34,581 sits slightly below last year's $34,946.

That modest decline suggests the Frontier is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly enough to signal a rising market. If you’re planning to sell later, the current pricing trend means you should expect a somewhat softer resale environment than a year ago.

The good news is that the truck’s broad appeal, standard V6, and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to list. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than neglected trucks.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2025 Frontier earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side-impact crash tests, but three-star driver protection and three-star rollover resistance ratings are causes for concern.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and rear automatic braking. Adaptive cruise control is also standard, while the surround-view camera with off-road mode is newly standard on the SL and optional on some other trims.

The main caveat is that the Frontier’s safety performance is mixed, with a poor headlight result and incomplete IIHS testing at the time of publication. That makes it a truck where standard driver-assistance equipment helps, but you should still be cautious about the crash-test picture.

Should I buy a 2025 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 update adds more standard safety features and a new 12.3-inch touchscreen on most trims.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds extra standard equipment for some models and new option packages.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the newer standard safety and infotainment updates at a softer used-market price. If you’re shopping strictly on value, the 2025’s current pricing and inventory make it the more practical buy; if you want to compare equipment changes, the 2026 is worth a look.
