How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 5.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 755 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

It stands out for its unmistakable design, powerful engines, and impressive off-road capability, while still delivering the kind of luxury and tech you expect from a Mercedes. The trade-offs are real, though: it is rougher around the edges than other luxury SUVs, and the expert review calls out limited cargo space and uncomfortable seats.

The market also shows 32.3% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests you can still find some value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 G-Class is built around a familiar Mercedes formula: strong hardware, modern tech, and a rugged body-on-frame character that has long been part of its identity. The expert review also notes that the model remains a serious off-roader while adding updated powertrains and technology for 2025.

Its performance setup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six in the G 550 and a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 in the AMG G 63, both paired with mild-hybrid assistance and permanent four-wheel drive with locking differentials. Mercedes also backs it with a four-year, 50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is still a highly specialized, expensive SUV, so upkeep and repair costs can be substantial even when the vehicle itself is well built.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a high-priced, low-volume SUV where repairs can be costly. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the vehicle’s luxury features and off-road hardware have been maintained properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base G 550 brings the G-Class’s distinctive design, opulent cabin, and standard 19-inch wheels, while AMG G 63 models add a sportier steering wheel, 20-inch wheels, and optional 22-inch wheels and carbon-fiber exterior trim. The best-value choice is the G 550 if you want the core G-Class experience without paying for AMG performance extras.
• Powertrain: The G 550 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Both use a nine-speed automatic, mild-hybrid assistance, and permanent four-wheel drive with locking front, center, and rear differentials.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. For 2025, Mercedes also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Infotainment: You get MBUX with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual 12.3-inch screens that create a wide, modern display layout. The system also includes augmented reality navigation, excellent voice recognition, and an off-road menu with compass, tire pressure and temperature, and inclinometer readouts.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings were not available at the time of publication.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G 550 and AMG G 63.

Here's the short version:

• G 550: This is the trim to start with if you want the classic G-Class look, strong off-road hardware, and the updated 3.0-liter inline-six without paying AMG money. It still gets the luxury cabin, dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless smartphone integration, and the full suite of standard driver-assistance features.
• AMG G 63: Choose this if you want the most powerful and most dramatic version of the G-Class. It adds the twin-turbo V8, AMG-specific suspension tuning, and a more performance-focused character, but it is the pricier route and makes the most sense if you value speed and presence over value.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 755 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $191,782, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $191,784 sits slightly below last year's $201,955.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, the current softness means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the G-Class has strong brand appeal and a highly distinctive identity, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention even in a softer market. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class had not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA at the time of publication.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. Mercedes also includes Pre-Safe, which can tighten seatbelts and close windows if a crash appears imminent.

For 2025, Mercedes adds route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature that can bring the SUV to a standstill if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings updated powertrains and tech, including the new inline-six G 550 and added driver-assistance features.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the G-Class with updated mechanicals and technology, the 2025 is the right target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a well-kept example with the equipment and condition you want.
