How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 6.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 756 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

It stands out for its unmistakable design, powerful engines, and impressive off-road capability, while still delivering modern luxury and tech. The trade-offs are real: cargo space is limited, the seats are described as uncomfortable, and value for money is weak.

You should think of it as a highly distinctive luxury SUV for buyers who want character and capability more than practicality. The market still shows 31.7% good or great deals, which suggests there are some attractive listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The G-Class is built around a rugged, capability-first formula, and the 2025 update adds newer powertrains and tech without changing that core identity. Its performance setup includes permanent four-wheel drive with locking differentials, and the cabin is backed by Mercedes luxury features and a four-year, 50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty.

The model’s long-term ownership risk is mostly about cost and complexity rather than basic durability, so you should expect expensive upkeep if you plan to keep one used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used off-road or has higher mileage. Focus on wear items, cabin condition, and evidence of hard use, since this is a premium SUV with a rugged mission and expensive components.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base G 550 gets 19-inch wheels, while 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and 20-inch wheels are also available; AMG G 63 models come standard with 20-inch wheels, with 22-inch wheels and carbon-fiber exterior trim optional. The base model is the better fit if you want the classic G-Class experience without paying for the AMG’s extra performance hardware.
• Powertrain: The gasoline lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six in the G 550 and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the AMG G 63. Both use a mild-hybrid system, nine-speed automatic transmission, and permanent four-wheel drive with locking front, center, and rear differentials.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. The 2025 model also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Infotainment: You get MBUX with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a pair of 12.3-inch screens. The system also includes augmented reality navigation and a Transparent Hood camera view.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings were not available at the time of publication.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G 550, AMG G 63.

Here's the short version:

• G 550: This is the better-value choice if you want the G-Class’s distinctive design, luxury cabin, and serious off-road hardware without stepping up to the AMG’s higher price and more aggressive performance focus.
• AMG G 63: Choose this if you want the strongest engine, the most dramatic acceleration, and the upgraded AMG Active Ride Control suspension for a more controlled and customizable ride.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers who are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 756 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 97.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $191,214, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $191,214 sits slightly below last year's $205,502.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the G-Class has strong brand appeal and a distinctive identity, well-kept examples should continue to draw attention from buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. The 2025 model also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature that can bring the vehicle to a standstill if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 update brings refreshed powertrains and tech while keeping the G-Class’s core character intact.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with updated hardware and you value the G-Class’s unique mix of luxury and off-road ability, the 2025 is the right target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry price while still delivering much of the same personality and capability.
