How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 756 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert score is 7.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

The 2025 G-Class stands out for its unmistakable design, powerful engines, and unusual blend of luxury and ruggedness. It is aimed at you if you want something far less conventional than a typical luxury SUV, and the refresh brings updated powertrains and tech.

The trade-offs are real: it is not especially strong on cargo space, its seats are described as uncomfortable, and it is poor value for money. Even so, the market still gives you a strong availability signal, with 36.6% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 G-Class is built around Mercedes luxury and serious off-road hardware, and the refresh adds updated powertrains and tech without changing the model’s core identity. Its new mild-hybrid setup and downsized base engine are meant to improve efficiency and modernize the driving experience, while the model still keeps the rugged character that defines the G-Class.

The performance setup is substantial, with a turbocharged inline-six in the G 550 and a twin-turbo V8 in the AMG G 63, plus permanent four-wheel drive and locking differentials. Mercedes also backs it with the same four-year, 50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty as other models in the brand’s lineup.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is still a costly, highly specialized SUV, so ownership expenses can stay high even when the vehicle itself is well cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a high-value SUV with complex hardware. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the vehicle’s luxury and off-road equipment has been maintained properly. It is also worth checking that the features you care about are present on the specific trim you are considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base G 550 gets 19-inch wheels, while 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and 20-inch wheels are also available; AMG G 63 models come standard with 20-inch wheels, with 22-inch wheels and carbon-fiber exterior trim optional. The cabin is opulent across the lineup, but AMG models add a sportier steering wheel and a more performance-focused feel.
• Powertrain: The G 550 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Both use a nine-speed automatic, permanent 4WD, and locking front, center, and rear differentials.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. The 2025 model also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Infotainment: You get MBUX with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a pair of 12.3-inch screens. The system also includes augmented reality navigation, excellent voice recognition, and an off-road menu with compass, tire pressure and temperature, and inclinometer readouts.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings were not available at the time of publication, though the new mild-hybrid systems and the G 550’s downsized engine may improve on the prior model’s 14 mpg combined figure.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G 550 and AMG G 63.

Here's the short version:

• G 550: This is the better-value choice if you want the G-Class experience without stepping all the way up to AMG pricing. It still gives you the model’s distinctive design, strong off-road hardware, and a new turbocharged inline-six with mild-hybrid assistance.
• AMG G 63: Choose this if you want the most power and the most dramatic driving experience. It keeps the V8, adds AMG Active Ride Control for 2025, and is the trim that best matches the G-Class’s status-symbol personality.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features and new 2025 additions that improve everyday usability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 756 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $192,224, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $192,224 sits slightly below last year's $201,266.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the G-Class remains a highly distinctive, high-demand luxury SUV, and its strong identity can help support future interest. Because the model is expensive and specialized, resale will likely continue to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class hadn’t received IIHS or NHTSA safety ratings at the time of publication.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. Mercedes also includes Pre-Safe, which can tighten seatbelts and close windows if a crash appears imminent.

For 2025, the G-Class adds route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature that can bring the SUV to a standstill if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings updated powertrains and tech, including the new inline-six G 550 and added driver-assistance features.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the G-Class with updated hardware and tech, the 2025 is the right path. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a well-kept example with the features you want at a lower price.
