Is the 2025 GMC Canyon a good car?

The 2025 GMC Canyon stands out as a midsize pickup that leans harder into power, technology, and luxury than many shoppers expect from the class. It is offered only as a four-door crew cab with a five-foot bed, and its styling is distinct, with narrow LED accent lights above the headlights and a large rectangular grille that gives it a more modern, upscale look. Under the hood, all Canyon models use a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

That strong output helps the Canyon feel quick for a midsize truck, and the Elevation and Denali trims can reach 60 mph in around 6.5 seconds. The 2025 model also brings a generous feature set, especially for a truck that does not offer a stripped-down work-truck version. Even the entry-level Elevation includes all-terrain tires, an off-road suspension, an eight-inch digital instrument panel, an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard safety features such as frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist.

36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 GMC Canyon reliable?

The 2025 GMC Canyon stands out as a midsize pickup that leans harder into power, technology, and luxury than many shoppers expect from the class. It brings a generous feature set, and even the entry-level model includes standard safety features such as frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist.

Higher trims and packages push the Canyon further toward serious off-road capability and premium comfort, with available equipment such as locking differentials, skid plates, adaptive dampers, a head-up display, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a Bose audio system. Still, the more off-road-focused versions sacrifice some performance and are less agile on the road, so long-term ownership risk is tied more to how hard you use the truck than to basic daily driving.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the truck’s equipment and trim match the listing. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, tires, brakes, and any off-road hardware if the truck has been used on rough terrain. Focus on overall condition and signs of hard use, since that matters more than mileage alone on a midsize pickup like this.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 GMC Canyon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,637 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,427, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $41,515 sits slightly below last year's $43,957.

That price movement suggests the Canyon has softened enough to help you buy more confidently today. If you plan to sell later, the current market shows that pricing can move down meaningfully, so condition and trim will matter a lot when it is time to list your truck. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a premium-feeling midsize pickup, but you should expect resale value to depend heavily on how clean and well-equipped your truck is.

Should I buy a 2025 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,238, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $41,515 average.
• It adds a more extreme AEV off-road package.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a new Coastal Dune paint color and a lift kit for the AT4X.

The 2025 is the best all-around pick if you want the current-year balance of features, power, and market softness. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value path. If you want the freshest updates and can pay more, the 2026 is the cleaner upgrade route.
