Used 2025 Ford Expedition for Sale nearSpringfield, IL

How much does the 2025 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 17.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,977 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Ford Expedition earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

The Expedition is aimed at you if you want a large SUV with serious interior space and strong towing capability, and the all-new 2025 redesign gives it a tech-forward cabin that feels impressively modern. Its strengths are clear in everyday use: the cabin is roomy, the driving experience is surprisingly manageable for such a big SUV, and the standard equipment list is generous.

The trade-offs are just as clear. The Expedition is expensive, its engines are thirsty, and its connected tech requires an additional subscription to work at full strength.

Good and great deals account for 34.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Expedition’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward gas-only powertrain and the fact that Ford builds it around a familiar full-size SUV formula. The expert review also notes that the powertrain has no trouble getting the vehicle up to highway speed and that the transmission shifts quietly and accurately, which supports confidence in day-to-day use.

Ford also includes a broad set of standard safety and towing-related features, which can reduce the friction of ownership if you regularly haul people, cargo, or a trailer. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is cost: the vehicle’s size, fuel consumption, and subscription-based tech can make ownership more expensive than you might expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that’s been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the tech features and driver-assistance systems work as expected, since this SUV leans heavily on its equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Active trim already brings a lot of equipment, including ActiveX synthetic leather upholstery, tri-zone automatic climate control, power-folding rear seats, and the 24-inch panoramic driver information display. Higher trims add nicer materials, and the King Ranch stands out for its more upscale cabin treatment.
• Powertrain: Every 2025 Expedition uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. The standard version makes 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, while the Tremor gets a high-output version with 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, Pro-Trailer Hitch Assist, and Pro-Trailer Backup Assist. BlueCruise 1.4 is available on the Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch.
• Infotainment: The Expedition uses a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play store. It also supports wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, but full functionality depends on the Ford Connectivity Package.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates 2WD models at 16 mpg city, 24 highway, and 18 combined, while 4WD models are rated at 15 city, 22 highway, and 18 combined.

Which 2025 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Expedition is offered in 4 trim levels: Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the best-value trim because it already includes a lot of the Expedition’s core appeal, including the panoramic driver display, tri-zone climate control, power-folding rear seats, and ActiveX upholstery. If you want the most equipment for the money, this is the trim to start with.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale version of the Expedition and are interested in the available high-output engine. It builds on the Expedition’s luxury-leaning side without changing the basic formula.
• Tremor: This is the trim to buy if you want the Expedition’s most off-road-focused setup. It adds the high-output engine, standard 4WD, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and an electronic locking rear axle.
• King Ranch: Pick this if you want the most premium-feeling cabin, with nicer materials and Del Rio leather seating. It’s the luxury choice in the lineup.

BlueCruise 1.4 is available on the Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch trim levels.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,977 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,266, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $61,659 sits slightly below last year's $74,687.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you may be better positioned to absorb normal depreciation rather than chasing a vehicle that still has room to fall.

The Expedition’s strong owner satisfaction rating can help support demand when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2025 Ford Expedition earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with a strong standard safety suite that includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, Pro-Trailer Hitch Assist, and Pro-Trailer Backup Assist. BlueCruise 1.4 is also available on the Active, Platinum, Tremor, and King Ranch trims, with a trial period included before a subscription or one-time purchase is required.

One caveat is that up-to-date crash-test results for the 2025 model are not yet available. The review also notes that prior-generation testing showed only Moderate scores in some front-impact evaluations, so you should keep that in mind if crash-test performance is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model is all-new, adds the Tremor trim, and brings a tech-forward cabin with a futuristic feel.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Expedition with the most current design, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting into a large, capable Ford SUV for less money, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2025’s redesign and added Tremor trim make it the more compelling choice for shoppers who value the latest equipment.
