How much does the 2025 BMW M4 cost?

Prices have softened 2.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 329 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 a good car?

The 2025 BMW M4 earns an 8.17/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

The 2025 M4 sits at the intersection of performance, luxury, and practicality, and it gives you unusual breadth for a performance car with coupe and convertible body styles, manual or automatic transmissions, and rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive. It is also described as one of BMW’s best-driving models, with the ability to feel comfortable when you want it and track-ready when you need it.

The trade-offs are clear: it is expensive, its tech can be hit-or-miss, and the back seat is cramped.

With 35.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 reliable?

The 2025 M4 is presented as a well-rounded, high-performance car that also brings everyday usability, with four-passenger seating and decent cargo capacity helping it work as more than just a weekend toy. Its performance hardware is substantial, including an adaptive suspension, an active differential, and strong brakes, which supports the sense that it is engineered for hard use.

The performance setup is built around a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, and the car can be configured for comfort or more aggressive driving through selectable powertrain, steering, braking, exhaust, and suspension settings. That flexibility is a good sign for long-term livability because you can tailor the car to how you actually drive it.

BMW also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit as part of the ownership experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a high-performance car like this can be costly to keep in top shape if it has been driven hard or skipped regular maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW M4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a performance car can hide hard use even when it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on brakes, suspension, tires, and signs of track use or curb damage. Pay close attention to overall condition, especially on cars with expensive wheels, low-profile tires, or lots of options.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: BMW sells the M4 coupe in base, M4 Competition, and M4 Competition xDrive specifications, while the M4 convertible is available only as the Competition xDrive. The base coupe is the least expensive way in, while the Competition xDrive models add the most power and all-wheel-drive traction.
• Powertrain: The M4 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. Output ranges from 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque to 523 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, depending on transmission choice. The six-speed manual is standard on the base coupe, while Competition models use an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Every M4 has Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Active Guard collision preparation and driver monitoring are also standard. The Driving Assistance Professional package adds evasive steering assist, lane centering assist, lane change assist, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: BMW equips the M4 with Live Cockpit Professional using BMW Operating System 8.5. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, cloud-based navigation, and an Intelligent Personal Assistant are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says you should expect 18 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW M4 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW M4 is offered in 4 trim levels: base, M4 Competition, M4 Competition xDrive, and M4 CS.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the one to choose if you want the least expensive entry point and value the six-speed manual. It gives you the core M4 experience with the lowest output in the lineup, so it suits you best if driver involvement matters more than outright pace.
• M4 Competition: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more power and the quicker eight-speed automatic without stepping all the way up to xDrive. If you want the strongest balance of speed and price, this is the trim to focus on.
• M4 Competition xDrive: Choose this if you want the quickest all-weather version and the most power in the standard lineup. It is the right pick if traction and straight-line performance matter most.
• M4 CS: This limited-production model is the most specialized choice in the lineup, aimed at buyers who want the most exclusive, track-focused version mentioned here.

Every M4 includes Active Driving Assistant, and the Driving Assistance Professional package is available if you want more advanced driver aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW M4?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 329 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $86,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW M4's resale value?

The current average of $90,187 sits slightly below last year's $92,376.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the car will hold a premium automatically.

Because the year-over-year change is only 2.37%, the model is not showing a dramatic drop in value. That points to a used car that still has meaningful demand, especially if it is well kept and attractively equipped.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 safe?

The 2025 BMW M4 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every BMW M4 has Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Active Guard collision preparation and driver monitoring are also standard, along with BMW Assist e-Call for emergency services.

The Driving Assistance Professional package adds evasive steering assist, lane centering assist, lane change assist, and Traffic Jam Assist. It also includes an emergency stop assist system that can help bring the car to a safe halt if the driver becomes unresponsive.

The surround-view camera system is especially useful because visibility is compromised when the top is up, and the rear cross-traffic monitoring system helps with low-speed maneuvering.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW M4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.37% compared with last year.
• The 2025 model adds a light detail refresh, a slight power bump for Competition xDrive models, and a new operating system for the infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version with the latest updates, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still give you much of the same core M4 experience for less money, especially if you can find a clean, well-maintained example.
