Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 reliable?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 is presented as a redesigned luxury SUV with strong performance, but the ownership picture is shaped by its sporty hardware and advanced tech. The turbocharged V6, dual-clutch transmission, and adaptive air suspension point to a more complex setup than a basic commuter SUV, so you should expect a premium-car ownership experience rather than a low-maintenance one.

The performance notes describe it as sure-footed in wet conditions, stable, and satisfying to drive, while the cost-effectiveness notes say Audi is adding complimentary scheduled service for 2026. That helps on the maintenance side, but it does not change the fact that this is a high-performance luxury SUV with more systems to keep in good working order.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is that you’re buying into a sophisticated performance package, so condition and service history matter more than they would on a simpler SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Audi SQ5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a performance SUV with advanced driver-assistance and suspension hardware. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the technology behaves consistently during a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims differ in appearance and cabin equipment, with the lower trims getting a lower-grade leather with Dinamica inserts while Prestige adds Fine Nappa leather and more customization for lighting and displays. The base trim still brings a high-end interior, but you give up some of the richer materials and visual flair.
• Powertrain: The SQ5 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. It is quick, but the notes also mention a light steering feel and some uneven power delivery in heavy traffic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a semi-autonomous parking assistance system, and safe exit assist. Premium Plus adds Adaptive Cruise Assist with lane-centering and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Premium and Premium Plus include an 11.9-inch digital instrument display and a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, while Prestige adds a 10.9-inch passenger screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a navigation system and Audi Assistant.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA rating is 22 mpg combined, and testing returned 20.4 mpg.

Which 2025 Audi SQ5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core SQ5 experience: the turbo V6, Quattro all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension, and the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the performance hardware without paying for the extra luxury and tech upgrades.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds Adaptive Cruise Assist with lane-centering, a surround-view camera system, a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, and a configurable head-up display. If you want the sweet spot between equipment and price, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: This is the most luxurious version, adding the front passenger touchscreen, Dynamic Interaction Lighting, and richer cabin presentation. Choose it if you want the most upscale SQ5 experience and are willing to pay for the extras.

Audi’s safety package is strongest on the Premium Plus, where you get the added driver-assistance and camera features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Audi SQ5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move when you find the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 286 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $55,362, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Audi SQ5's resale value?

The current average of $55,362 sits slightly below last year's $58,984.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently today. If you plan to sell later, the softer current pricing means your resale outcome will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment.

For a future seller, the key is to preserve the SUV’s premium presentation and service history. A well-kept SQ5 with desirable trim and clean records should hold up better than one that shows heavy wear or neglected maintenance.

Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 safe?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 does not have released IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings in the provided data.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a semi-autonomous parking assistance system, and safe exit assist. Premium Plus adds Adaptive Cruise Assist with lane-centering and a surround-view camera system.

The main caveat is the driver-assistance behavior: the system can issue repeated steering-wheel warnings even when you are holding the wheel, and it also triggered an unwarranted emergency-braking event during testing. The lack of hands-free traffic-jam assist and hands-free driving tech is another notable gap.

Should I buy a 2025 Audi SQ5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.14% compared with last year.
• The redesigned SQ5 brings more power, added practicality, and next-generation technology, while also being praised as fun to drive, comfortable, and impressive on technology.

The bottom line: If you want the newest redesign with strong performance and a more modern cabin, the 2025 is the right path. If you’re more price-sensitive, you should still shop this year carefully because the market has softened and there are enough listings to compare before you commit.
